Kari and Hans, followed Rachela out of the compund, hand in hand. Just as they rounded a corner, they ran into a guard. Hans, with his flying abilities, lifted Kari off of the ground. Kari pulled a remote out of her pocket with her free hand, and pressed a button. Suddenly, out of nowhere gun fire erupted out of the compound. Kari looked down and saw it. She turrned to tell Hans to let her back down on the ground, when a bullet buzzed by her head. Kari spun around, ready to shoot at the person firing at her. Hans also turrned, forgetting for a breaf moment that Kari couldn't fly. Her hand slipped from his.
Kari still saw it. She had to keep her feet bellow her. Kari's body turrned upside down. No! She thought. She landed with a thud, on the ground. She stood, and stepped onto her board, and shot up into the sky, just as two guards ran at her.
Hans breathed a sigh of relief. Kari was okay. Hans kept shooting at the guards. He didn't know where Troy and Rachela were, but he knew they were somewhere close by.
Kari flew high into the air. She did a triple flip backwards, and fifteen upside-down spirals, and three right side up spirals. It felt good to be herself again. It was like old times. Fighting crime with the young man she loved by her side. Kari shot a glance at Hans and smiled. He was back. Forever. Just as she was ready to put her focuss on the guards, fear struck her heart. Hans had been shot! She watched him fall. She knew that if his wound wasn't fatal he wouldn't have fallen. Kari shot towards him. She knelt down, speeding her board up a bit.
Hans opened his eyes slightly. He was falling. He knew it. He had to start flying again. He tried to fly, he had to fly! He felt the sting of the wound in his cheast. He was able to get enough air, to set himself on the ground softly. He ripped a piece of his shirt off, and placed it on his cheast to stop the bleeding. It was then he realized that he'd been shot on the left side. He couldn't tell how close to the heart he'd been hit, but he knew it was close.
Kari landed next to Hans. He was a good enough ways away from the compound. He hadn't been noticed by the guards, which was good to.
"Hans?" she asked, kneeling down next to him. He opened his eyes. It was clear he was in pain.
"Hans, it's me." Kari said, tears flodding her eyes. Hans tried to sit up.
"No, don't move. I need to work on this wound." Kari opened up his shirt and gasped. The shot was directly where the heart was. Kari knew that a shot like that would kill. She had to stop the bleeding. She took off her white cotton jacket, and wrapped him up in that. She tried to not to think that he could die any moment.
"There." she said, smiling, tears of disbelief running down her face. She saw the color leave his skin.
"No." she said silently. Hans' face went blank, and his breathing slowed, and then stopped completly. Kari watched in pain, tears streaming down her face.
He's not gonna die. He's not gonna die, Kari. Get ahold of yourself. Please God! Don't let him die! Kari said breathing hard. She looked away, as more tears flodded her eyes. When she looked back, Hans was looking right at her, the color returning to his skin. A spark of hope glittered in her heart. Hans made an effort to sit, and he did!
"You're alive!" she whispered, and flung her arms around his neck, gently.
"Of course I'm alive. Why shouldn't I be?" Hans said. He wrapped his arms around her, and held her.
"Kari, as I was laying there, I knew that the would was mortal. But somehow I felt it wasn't my time. But I knew I was going to die. But just as the little bit of life left in me left, I suddenly felt a whole new breath of life flood through me and fill my lungs. The pain that I felt from the bullet, gone. I opened my eyes, and saw you with your head turrned away from me."
Kari, who was now sitting in front of him, said, "I prayed asking God not to let you die."
"You see? I knew it! When you prayed, little did you know that at that moment, God breathed life into me. He knew my time wasn't up yet. And He wasn't about to let a little bullet get in the way of His plans."
Kari smiled at the thought of her prayer innerceeding for Hans. She became serious.
"I thought you had left me." she said, another tear rolling down her face.
Hans stroked her face, wiping the tear away.
"I love you. I never have any intentions of leaving you. Though it happens. And if it ever does, know that I will love you, even through the pain of death."
With that, their mouths met in a passionett embrace.
