In Genesis 2:21 we read;"And the Lord caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;"
And we know by scripture that through this period of deep sleep, and through the rib of man the woman Eve was brought forth.
What I found interesting in this was the similitude between Adam the first born man, Israel the firstborn son(Exodus 4:22), or nation of God.
In Isaiah 29:10 the Lord told Israel;"For the Lord has poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and has closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers he has covered."
This same sign was also fulfilled in Israel in order to make way for salvation to come to the Gentiles.
Romans 11:8-12
King James Version (KJV)
8(According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear unto this day.
9And David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumblingblock, and a recompence unto them:
10Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back alway.
11I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy. 12Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness?
I believe this sleep and slumber period for Israel was shown in Adam from the very beginning as a sign given in the firstborn son Israel.
This deep sleep and slumber means that Israel, during the times of the Gentiles would have their minds darkened from understanding the Word of God. But.....
This time of blindness is forecast to end when the fulness of the Gentiles comes in.
Romans 11:25;"For I would not, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in."
I thought that was pretty cool how the Lord shows these things in similitudes, even from the very beginning.

Thats what I was missing in the equation, thanks bro! I was thinking, ok, I know Adam was a man of the earth (this is sorta how I was working it out)... and Christ (on one the one hand) abolishes the enmity per Ephes 2:15 (that way)and yet God said I he would
