Yes. But the alleged conduct by Trump didn’t take place in the UK did it?
That still doesn’t make Steele a foreign government or a Russian agent. This seems deliberately obtuse. In 2016, he was a private citizen.

I wasn't aware that a negative had to be proven.
I wasn't asking you to prove a negative, just to back up this assertion :

"the Russian collusion narrative, which was dismantled by both the Mueller and Durham probes"

I can get why that would be difficult, though, given that the Mueller report says the exact opposite.

And he did wonderful work claiming that a known germaphobe paid prostitutes to urinate on his mattress. Good work. He was also offered a million by the FBI if he could verify the information and he couldn’t do it.

So do you actually acknowledge that Steele had deep contacts in Russia and could actually conduct an inquiry into the relationship of Trump and Russians? (That his contacts were entangled in Russian intel who figured out what Steele was doing and fed disinfo to him is separate, but was pretty obvious.)

He must have been incompetent and naive to fall for the disinformation, or he was just looking for dirt. Why would the Russians put out negative disinformation about Trump if he was their preferred candidate?

That has nothing to do with Steele being unable to verify the dossier
Who cares? The dossier was opposition research some of which was labeled unverified.

Opposition research is looking for dirt. That is what he was paid for. Trump was the preferred candidate for Putin but Russia has people who are not Putin.

Besides, creating chaos is part of the Cold War.

His sources had sources that were bad/poor? He was a bit to far removed from "the game" and didn't know which of his sources were compromised? I don't know. You'd have to look into his sourcing the the sub-sources if you want to know.
Why would the Russians put out negative disinformation about Trump if he was their preferred candidate?
Their favorite candidate was chaos. The didn't think Trump would actually get elected (even if they thought he would be better manipulated). They wanted to see if the Clinton people would make an outrageous accusation (and discredit themselves). [They didn't.]

I don't know. There aren't any insider accounts of the FSB/SVR operation against the 2016 US election, so we don't have any self-described motives or strategic thinking.

Then it never should have been used to obtain a FISA warrant or been any part of the process at all

You should know by now that it was not used to obtain the FISA warrant; at worst it was a footnote in support.

That’s not true . the dossier played a central role in the seeking of FISA warrants on Carter Page,[33]

A British agent
Paid for by a political opponent. 12,000,000 from Hillary - and that is OK, but a meeting in Trump tower! THE HORRORS!

Yes, it is OK to buy opposition research. It wasn't just "a" meeting in the hotel, but one the campaign believed was with Russian agents. Then Donald wrote the lie himself to cover Jr.

So it’s okay to pay someone else to meet with Russian agents on your behalf?

The Trump tower meeting supposedly was for finding dirt on Hillary. In other words opposition research.

By receiving information from Russia

"The emails showed how the president’s oldest son had accepted a meeting with a Russian lawyer with the promise of receiving dirt on his father’s opponent, Hillary Clinton. Not only that, he’d been told the dirt was part of the Russian government’s ongoing support for his father.

“I love it,” Trump Jr. had replied."

Russian collusion....

Hillary paid a foreign source 12,000,000 for dirt on Donald Trump to interfere with his campaign. The foreign source used Russian disinformation as part of a de bunked and unsubstantiated dossier. The dossier was used as part of a base to begin investigating Trump Associates

I’m sure she loved every minute of it.

A Washington research firm paid a former British spy’s company $168,000 (126,859.47 pounds) for work on a dossier outlining Russian financial and personal links to Donald Trump’s 2016 election campaign, the U.S. firm said in a statement on Wednesday.

"In an Oct. 29 message posted on Twitter, President Trump said the dossier had cost as much as $12 million, without providing evidence.

“Never seen such Republican ANGER & UNITY as I have concerning the lack of investigation on Clinton made Fake Dossier (now $12,000,000?),....” Trump tweeted."

Once again, trump is wrong, and you promoted his unproven accusation

Hillary paid a foreign source 12,000,000 for dirt on Donald Trump to interfere with his campaign.

12 million what? Rubles? It wasn't dollars.

The Clinton campaign and the DNC through their law firm hired a US research company (Fusion GPS) to collect information about Donald Trump. Given his very public history, that was mostly collecting articles, etc.

Fusion GPS had questions about Trump's foreign business so they hired Oribis (Steele's firm). Fusion GPS paid Orbis $168,000.

Fusion GPS paid former British spy $168,000 to work on Trump dossier - report

The foreign source used Russian disinformation as part of a de bunked and unsubstantiated dossier.

At least one of Steele's sources fed him false information which comprised some of the reports he made to Fusion GPS (collectively known as "the Steele dossier". Some of things in those reports were true (Trump had a development deal in Moscow; Carter Page traveled to Moscow). Some of them were not (Michael Cohen traveled to Prague; Page got a percentage from the billion-dollar deal selling a major Russian oil firm).
The dossier was used as part of a base to begin investigating Trump Associates

The investigations started *before* the FBI had seen Steele's reports, but (as you posted above) they were used for the "FISA warrant" against Page.
I’m sure she loved every minute of it.
If she did it was a private amusement. None of the info gathered by Steele was ever used in the campaign.

Fusion GPS was not directed to meet with Russian agents nor were they hired by the Clinton campaign or the DNC.

Hillary paid a foreign source 12,000,000 for dirt on Donald Trump to interfere with his campaign.
No, Clinton didn't pay anyone. The campaign hired the law firm Perkins Coie who hired Fusion GPS, which is not a foreign corporation - it is based in Washington DC and owned by former Wall Street Journal reporters. Fusion GPS, in turn, hired Steele.

The foreign source used Russian disinformation as part of a de bunked and unsubstantiated dossier.
Partially debunked and partially bunked.

] The dossier was used as part of a base to begin investigating Trump Associates
Not really, but it was used to substantiate other suspicions.

I’m sure she loved every minute of it.
Probably. Why not?
