Acupuncture

I’ve been reading a lot about acupuncture and I’ve been wondering two things. It’s hard for me to admit, but I’m stumped on this from a biblical point of view.

1. Have any of you tried it, or know anyone’s that tried it, and how has it worked?
2. What do you think about it from a biblical point of view? Is it biblical, or not? And why or why not?

The reason I’m asking is that I’m debating about getting acupuncture for a long term pain problem. I’ve been to the regular doctors and the only thing she will do is give me pain medication. I don’t want that. So I was just thinking about trying it, been researching it, but I’m torn on the biblical issues.

What exactly is your concern? I don't claim to be an authority on biblical scholarship. But what could the problem be? They stick fine needles into your body inducing endorphin production, thus relieving pain.

From what I’ve been told and read, a lot of people that do the acupuncture practice it with some of the Eastern religion beliefs. My concern is that by that seeking their help with this, I will be encouraging them in ungodly practices. By doing that then I will not be helping them seek God in the correct manner. And in my opinion that is not what I, as a Child of God, should be doing.

Depends on the focus. The same thing can be said for Martial Arts, but then people like me do them. It is becoming more and more accepted in Western Medicine to include Eastern Medical practices. They are easily seperating the mysticism and so can you. Either way, Man's own conscience convicts himself.

Well, I'd consider this a sticky situation. Basically, if your conscience bothers you about it then don't do it. Clearly the Holy Spirit is trying to tell you something. That doesn't necessarily mean that God is trying to tell you not to do it. But maybe just pray about it and do some more research.
