Warning:
Acts 20:29-30 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.
2 Corinthians 11:3-4 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

Historical Background:
In 1913, at a Pentecostal camp meeting, John G. Scheppe, spent the night in prayer meditating on baptism. "In the early hours of the morning he ran through the camp, shouting that the Lord had shown him the truth on baptism in the Name of Jesus Christ." (David A. Reed, The Origins and Development of the Theology of Oneness Pentecostalism in the United States, 1980, page 99.) This new "revelation" from "God" would be the foundation of the United Pentecostal (Truth Tabernacle) church. "As their name implies, the United Pentecostals were once a part of the Pentecostal Churches, and the Assemblies of God. They were excommunicated from this fellowship for their denial of accepted Christian theology. United Pentecostals - Denomination or Cult, MacGregor Ministries.

The way of salvation according to the United Pentecostal (Truth Tabernacle) :
"The Original New Testament Plan of Salvation Is Still The Only Way To Be Saved.
Step 1 Have faith in Jesus Christ as your Savior and repent…believing is absolutely essential, but only the first step!
Step 2 Be baptized by immersion in the Name of Jesus Christ…Obtain remission of sins in baptism through obedience and faith in His name…not to be confused with repeating the titles Father-Son Holy Ghost
Step 3 Receive the Holy Spirit baptism evidenced by tongues…know that tongues is the initial evidence of receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost." Taken from a pamphlet printed by the Truth Church, Life is full of Questions!
They are right concerning the need for repentance.
Luke 13:5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
The Bible also teaches that we need to be baptized.
Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be ******.
There is only one baptism.
Ephesians 4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism
John, who baptized with water said the real baptism was of God’s Spirit.
Matthew 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:
This is confirmed by the writings of the Apostle Paul.
1 Corinthians 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
The United Pentecostals teach that one must be baptized by water before we receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. However Cornelius received the Holy Spirit before he was baptized by water!
Acts 10:44-48 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.
NOTE:
Acts 2:38 was the very beginning of the church age, when for the very first time, the Holy Spirit began to indwell in those who were already believers.
The United Pentecostals teach that we must be baptized in the name of Jesus only. This is because they deny the trinity. They follow the ancient heresy of modalism, that God exists in one person, which sometimes manifests itself as the Father, sometimes the Son and sometimes the Holy Spirit. Jesus said we are to baptize in ghe name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit:
Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Although the United Pentecostals deny the trinity, this doctrine is clearly taught in the Bible.
1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
The Bible clearly teaches that the Son is distinct from the Father and the Holy Spirit.
Isaiah 48:16 Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, hath sent me.
Revelation 5:6-7 And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth. And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.
Matthew 3:16-17 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
The United Pentecostals teach that one needs to speak in tongues in order to be saved. Jesus warned of the dangers of seeking after signs, wonders and miracles.
Matthew 12:39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:
United Pentecostal believe that speaking in tongues proves that one is saved. The Bible says that we walk by faith, not by sight.
2 Corinthians 5:7 For we walk by faith, not by sight:
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
John the Baptist was filled with the Spirit from birth.
Luke 1:15 and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother’s womb.
Yet John performed no miracles.
John 10:41 John did no miracle:
Paul taught that all believers do not speak in tongues.
1 Corinthians 12:28-30 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?
We will not be judged according to John Scheppe’s special revelation, we will be judged according to Paul’s gospel!!!
Romans 2:16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.
Galatians 1:8-9 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
What is Paul’s gospel? The believer is saved by grace alone, through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone.
Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Romans 11:6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.
Final Exhortation:
Romans 16:17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.

The UPC does not teach that you must be baptized in water FIRST before receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit. But they do teach that both baptisms are necessary. I attended a UPC church for four years so I know this for a fact. But they do stress that one must receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost as evidenced with speaking in tongues to be saved.

There are elements of what the UPC teach that I in fact agree with!
I believe that all born again believers can pray in tongues(and prophesy for that matter...)
That does not mean they will.
That does not mean that they have to actually do it.
But they can!
Some do and do not even know that are doing it or even what they are doing.
A groan from the spirit of Christ in you is a form of prayer.
The "Abba" reflex from your reborn spirit is your spirit speaking to it's Father.
We all can do these things, and all have!

People have confused this ability resident in all born again believers with the manifestation of "diversities of tongues" which is a gift of the Holy Spirit and is not given to all.

UPC just went to far in telling people that:
1. The new creation we receive when we are born again is the same as the Holy Spirit which is God. And:
2. They should not tell people they have to perform this action as a requirement for salvation.

repent, and be baptized everyone of you in the name of jesus Christ for the remission of sins
why do you think that this applied to the folks at pentecost and it does not apply today?
you can't just pick an choose the parts of the Bible that you want to go by.
you must hear
believe
repent
confess
be baptized
remain faithful until death
The Bible mentions all of these will lead to salvation. you can't just leave one out b/c you want to or you don't believe it.And let me put it this way...If the Bible says be baptized for the remission of sins, then wouldn't you want to do it? i would rather be safe than sorry- If the Bible is right and only those baptized for the remission of sins AND stay faithful are going to Heaven there is not going to be a lot of people going to Heaven (matthew 7: 13&14) If you are right and everyone who believes in their heart will go to heaven- then there are lots of people going to Heaven. and those who go exactly by the NT will be there anyway. So which would you choose- what you want to believe or what the bible says?
