I am a pastor's wife and am concerned for the young adults in our church. I've found that some of them still occasionally attend youth activities but I know they don't feel like they fit there anymore. Nor are they quite comfortable at the adult things we do. Of course, there are some church get togethers which everybody attends but I know that we need to be providing fellowship for them.

Can anybody give me some suggestions for activities whether social, spiritual or service?

This is a problem in my church as well. I think one good solution is having a mentoring program for young adults with older adults, and allowing a ministry to fluorish out of that. Not only will the young adults be able to congregate together, but there will be intergenerational fellowship and discipleship.

The best way to figure out how to make the most out of fellowship together is to really get to know each other and realise strengths, weaknesses, loves, dislikes and pull together to make each other stronger!

Invite them round to yours or other church member's houses for tea/coffee/cakes/dinner/ whatever! Get to know each of them really well, what makes them tick. Encourage them to get to know each other through events like bowling/cinema/sleep overs etc - even fundraising things like car washes etc. I remember having a sleep over in the church one Saturday night was really amazing!

A small group designed for this age is necessary. When I was a Freshman in college, I hated being in the youth.

Our program began...

We met once a week (on Sunday Night) for bible study/fellowship.
on Sunday Mornings we were involved in church- some served in Children's church, etc. I was a worship leader for the Youth.

We had our own special outings- we went camping, etc.

The curriculum we used is CrossSeekers. If you want more information, PM Me. :)

First of all, do they want some sort of group? (It sounds like some of them do)

Good ideas (in my opinion!):
- Bible study (weekly or bi-weekly is good)
- movie night (could have someone lead a discussion afterwards if you want it more interactive, or with a spiritual focus)
- games night (cards, board games, etc.)
- service projects (eg. go work at a soup kitchen together one saturday a month, volunteer at a food bank sorting donations, etc.)
- bowling!! (yes it is goofy, but fun)
- mini golf
- have a meal together (could prepare it together, or everyone bring something)

That's all I've got off the top of my head... I'll post more later if I think of any!

I think it's great you are wanting to start a fellowship group. :)

The ideas here are great!

We have an "older" youth group at my church, 18 to ... Some singles still feel very young at 45! lol ^_^ It's mostly 18-30 though.

We meet Saturday nights and have a meal, each time at someone's place, different every week, and we either bring food or share the cost for the person who made it. We have a Bible study and games afterwards.

Once in a while, we have other activities, like trips or whatever. Or we just join up with everybody else when there's a general event at church.

I'm sure God will give you the creativity you need!

My church has a new ministry called Sanctum. It is a ministry for college students and people in their twenty-somethings  We meet at the coffee shop on Thursdays at 7:30 pm. On the first two thursdays we have a worship service :D On the next Thursday we have a guest speaker and get in the word deep. On the last Thursday, we have a night of sacred art where people express their talents through music, singing, poetry, photography and artwork :)
