You can't get two minutes of clean listening with regards to the former without a nasally diatribe ripe with acid spewed hatred, and the latter isn't far behind (takes about five minutes rather than two). Then you have Hannity, who has a more subtle contempt which mixes well with his distortion of the facts in his terrible journalism, props for fuel for Jon Stewart, though. And Beck, of course, who equates Christian charity with communism (and who recently admitted that he doesn't care a crap about politics, and that he's all in it for the entertainment).

And we're limiting Maddow to a single offhand comment she said perhaps in jest (thus negating the whole thing)? You've - got - to - be - kidding.

Well, liberals seem to substitute (often over-) intellectualized thinking for conservative visceral responses -- which could bring up their own particular annoying qualities, but still.

Here, go to CounterPunch: Tells the Facts, Names the Names, and see if you can find anything less than rationalized, coolheaded argumentation by all of the articles there. Don't attempt to conclude ubiquitous venom-spewing from the left from a typical night of Keith Olbermann. It's quite simply not there anywhere near the proportion of those on the right. It just isn't. Let's get over it, detach ourselves from these particular individuals on the right (or left), and get on with our lives.

I must confess that I rarely listen to any of them. I do take issue with your charge that Beck equates Christian charity with communism. Beck has never equated Christian charity with communism. Ever!

oldbetang, I'm not one who would tell anyone what to listen to, but I have difficulty that someone of your intelligence voluntarily watches a program whose host has said, "I could give a flying crap about the political process....We're an entertainment company."

What's the problem with refashioning the most important job for a democracy -- providing information to them so that they can make informed decisions -- as entertainment (thus holding to what brings attention rather than what makes one think)?
