• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

ACLU isn't "evil"

Well, pornography in libraries and all, (which I don't agree with, btw, but don't know the specifics about anyway) I think we have established that the ACLU is not evil...

We have also established that eating bullets is not good (with or without a permit)...

Anyway, the question that people who still dislike the ACLU should be asking is why we need an organization that's sole purpose is to protect people's civil liberties?

Sure there are liberties that some of us agree with and some of us disagree with but liberty is a good thing.

Why, in the country that is founded on freedom and liberty, does the organization that spends so much time defending our liberties that are being infringed upon by the government get so much flack?

I've been to the Statue of Liberty and its still cool :D

If that's your criteria for what is good then we can rule out Dobson's Family Life council, Jerry Falwell and his "blow them away in the name of the lord" BS, and Pat Robertson's entire TBN network.

None of them are doing anything to end world hunger or bring about peace...

Unicef is though... Go UN!
I beg to differ, these ministries do that and so much more. Unicef on the other hand... well, now THERE is some real killing going on there: http://www.lifesite.net/waronfamily/unicef/index.html

Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

You've got to be kidding. I'm sure Dobson's quest to rid the world of homosexuals helps world poverty in some way but the methodology is beyond me at this point...

In regards to unicef, well, you might want to read something that has, well, actual information within: http://www.unicef.org/statistics/index_24287.html

I think for every lifesite.net link there should be a link to somewhere which has a chance of being balanced.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unicef

I feel dirty after looking at lifesite.net

Well then I suggest you don't Google UNICEF and embezzlement. Some of us remember that scandal some years back.
