You are thinking too much, you just need to accept Him believing he exists and died for you. etc.

Obviously you don't see yourself as thinking too little. I understand.

Is not like that, if you are over complicating things, things that are supposed to be simple that is not smart it makes it worse.
Good luck in your search of God, is the meaning of life actually to find him.

I understand why people think the scriptures complicate church doctrine.
However, if someone gave me lemonade watered down, I might not realize what I am missing, until someone gives me what we call "real" lemonade.
It's the same with the watering down of truth.

Good luck in your search of God, is the meaning of life actually to find him.
Thank you for the kind gesture.
However, I am not on a search for truth, and I do not believe in good luck.

Are you familiar with Meni?
International Standard Bible Encyclopedia
DESTINY, (MENI)
des'-ti-ni: A god of Good Luck, possibly the Pleiades.
See ASTROLOGY, 10; MENI.

MENI
me'-ni: Destiny, a god of Good Luck, possibly the Pleiades (Isaiah 65:11 margin).
See ASTROLOGY, 10; GAD.

Well when you do not want to see, you will not be open to seeing and no one can make you see.

The Gospel of John stated purpose for being written is to tell people how to have life (Eternal Life) by belief in Jesus.
And from The Gospel of John it is seen that when a person believes in Jesus, they become a born again child of God. Why because when they believe in Jesus they receive Eternal Life, The Life of God
The chapter 3 of John is about being born again and states in the same context that when a person believes in Jesus they receive Eternal Life. John 1:12 states a person becomes a child of God when they believe in Jesus (His name).

I hope you are not accusing me of not wanting to see.

What happens to the person who believes and then turns away?

Do you believe the demons are children of God then?
James 2:19 ....the demons believe...

Well God has made it so simple to see. Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life.

My only conclusion is when a person says they do not see, they must not want to see.

Whats happens to a person who turns away. They become a prodigal child, some may come back to faith in their earthly life and some may not. But they still remain a child of God.

Eternal life, The Life of God was never offered to demons. plus demons believe God is one. James states nothing about demons believing in Jesus for Eternal Life.

How does one accept Jesus as one's personal savior?
This is one of the many methods that have evolved down through the years to "help" people become saved.
Others include:
"Ask Jesus into your heart."
"Receive Jesus as your savior."
"Make Jesus your personal savior."
And others.

Don't get me wrong. These are all well-meaning attempts to help people make "a decision for Christ."
But if the "hearing of faith" saves people, then there is no "decision." You are saved by the mere occurrence of hearing.

Galatians 3:5 KJV
5 He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

You are saved when the word of Christ - that is, words enter your spirit.

Romans 10:17 RV
17 So belief cometh of hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

I used to hear people speak about their conversion. They have a date and place where they "gave Jesus their heart" or some other modern phraseology. I was a bit troubled. I could not remember when or where I was saved. I only recollect hearing the gospel and knowing it was true. I heard that Jesus died for my sins, was buried, and rose from the dead on day 3.

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 RV
1 Now I make known unto you brethren, the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye received, wherein also ye stand,
2 by which also ye are saved; I make known, I say, in what words I preached it unto you, if ye hold it fast, except ye believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which also I received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 and that he was buried; and that he hath been raised on the third day according to the scriptures;

I saw those words and knew they were true. Like light coming into my eyes, I had no time to "decide" anything. There was no "choice" offered. I just knew I knew it. I wrote a book some time ago about this named "Suddenly Saved." I was a fish caught in a net. I was a sheep being led into the fold.
I was just suddenly saved.

But if hearing involves the word of Christ, then should'nt the things you hear preached be His words, not some invented phraseology? Can the above methods bring faith into your spirit if they are not words of Christ?
How does one "make Jesus Lord of your life" or "ask Jesus into your heart?" As I said, these are well-meaning methods of presenting the gospel, but can one have faith without scripture and scriptural methods?
Imagine the devil sidling up to you and asking you to prove Jesus "came into your heart" or that you have the ability or authority to "make Him Lord." How would you counter his doubts? You have to come back with His words.

How does one accept Jesus as one's personal savior?
This is something for us to really think about.
I enjoy hearing responders "canned" presentations and your almost humorous responses.
I have for a long time done one on one Bible studies with people from many different countries and cultures.
There is no single method which fits all and it is always up to the free will choice of the individual.
We need to treat people individually starting with, where they are at: what do we agree on and build from there.
If I am to study with a person, I: pray, fast, study, meditate, ask others to pray with me and hopefully allow the Spirit to take the lead. I am there to allow the Spirit to work in and through me to mentor the person I am studying with. They really need to see God's Love (Christ Himself), listening to them, spending time with them, praying over them, teaching them, mentoring them, laughing with them, crying with them, Loving on them, and even correcting them. Do they like/want to be Loved unselfishly and unconditionally and do they want to Love like that?
Hopeful over time they accept Jesus in me to be in them.

My question was.... How does one accept Jesus as one's personal savior?
How does one accept Donald Trump or Joe Biden as their president?
Apples and oranges. . .

The "effectiveness" of the president does not depend on one person's acceptance.

The "effectiveness" of one's salvation does depend on one person's acceptance (i.e., faith and trust in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of one's sin).
I do not have to accept either of those men.
Many people did not accept Donald J. Trump as their president, even though he was nominated president of the United States.
Which does not alter the fact that (by the vote) he is President. . .just as many do not see Jesus as the world's Savior from sin, which likewise does not alter the fact that (by faith) he is the world's Savior from sin.
So, yes, there are similar.
How can one accept Jesus as savior, if they have not accepted him as Lord?
Savior and Lord are two different offices.

I can think I am "accepting" (the correct term here is "believe in and trust on") him as my Savior, without submitting to him as Lord.

The reality is that he is not my Savior if he is not my Lord.

It's not complicated. . .

The new birth is not based on faith.

It is based on the sovereign choice of the Holy Spirit, who is as unaccountable as the wind (Jn 3:6-8).

Well God has made it so simple to see. Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life.
It truly was made simple by God.
After all, he inspired the Bible writers.
So, one who reads and studies the scripture in its original tongue, will certainly get it.

However, the reason why some don't get it... I should say, reasons, is

  1. God did not inspire the translators, and people generally choose any translation, and believe strongly, that they got it.
  2. The religious doctrines that tend to water down God's inspired word, are branded into the minds of some, who believe strongly, that they got it.
Sadly, many of these persons... not all, stand on what they think they got, faithfully defending it.

Take John 14:1, for example.
Contemporary English Version
Jesus said to his disciples, "Don't be worried! Have faith in God and have faith in me.
New American Bible
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You have faith in God; have faith also in me.

Only two translations on biblehub renders pisteuó, have faith.
We can be sure that these translations are not consistent, except in a few places. See John 3:16

Do you see a difference between having faith and believing?
Many do, and I think these persons should be commended for their understanding.
What Is the Difference between Faith and Belief?
When you hear the words faith and belief, they can almost seem interchangeable. Some might even think of them as identical twins. However, as you begin to dig a little deeper, you will discover that faith and belief are more like cousins than identical twins. While they are related, they are not the same.
Because a relationship exists, you may wonder what is the difference between faith and belief? Here is a quick answer that we will expand on in a moment. Belief is based on information, while faith is based on application. This is an important first step that will help you understand the difference between faith and belief.

They know that Jesus was not simply saying believe in him, but rather put faith in him.
This harmonizes with James' letter.
James 2:19, uses the same Greek word pisteuó, but chooses the correct definition.
You surely believe there is only one God. That's fine. Even demons believe this, and it makes them shake with fear.
James even uses an example that shows the difference between believe, and faith.
James 1:23
For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror.

It is hard to find a good translations, that allow them to understand the simple truths in God's word. So, I do not blame persons entirely, for their lack, but when one understands this simple truth, they will have a better understanding of what it means to accept Jesus.
However, it requires humility to learn the simple truth of God's word.

My only conclusion is when a person says they do not see, they must not want to see.
...and you don't see that as judgmental, and haughty?
I have met many atheists who are like that, and especially when it come to the topic of evolution, or some other theory, they in their arrogance, falsely accuse the person who says they don't see, as not wanting to see.

Sometimes people are simply asking for clear evidence to a belief or claim.
To accuse the person of not wanting to see... well... do you see yourself any different to above...

Whats happens to a person who turns away. They become a prodigal child, some may come back to faith in their earthly life and some may not. But they still remain a child of God.
This is what you believe. However, this is not what the scriptures say.
The scriptures clearly, and simply says at 2 Peter 2:20-22
20 For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world by the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and are overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first. 21 For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn away from the holy commandment handed on to them. 22 It has happened to them according to the true proverb, “A dog returns to its own vomit,” and, “A sow, after washing, returns to wallowing in the mire.”
See also Hebrews 12:25, and Deuteronomy 32:5

Eternal life, The Life of God was never offered to demons. plus demons believe God is one. James states nothing about demons believing in Jesus for Eternal Life.
The principle is the same. James used that contrast in relation to persons who were using their lips, saying they believe, but not showing they have faith.
The demons do not show they have faith. They simply believe... Which is what we are being told to do - simply believe in Jesus Christ.

That is why there are so many billions of Christians. Nothing is required of them but to open their mouth and say, "I believe in Jesus Christ as my savior".
This is unscriptural. It is church doctrine.

The Bible on the other hand, is talking about having faith - that is demonstrating faith.
At Romans 10:10, we read...
10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.
At Romans 10:11, we read...
11 The Scriptures say no one who has faith will be disappointed,

[you] believe
πιστεύεται (pisteuetai)
Verb - Present Indicative Middle or Passive - 3rd Person Singular
Strong's 4100: From pistis; to have faith, i.e. Credit; by implication, to entrust.

Define what that means first.

-CryptoLutheran
Define what the question means?

Love comes first. This is the only way to come to true repentance. Be blessed.
Why do we love Jesus?
It's because of what he did for us, true? 1 John 4:19
So, are you in agreement that knowledge is followed by love?

Love your methods.
We should talk sometime.
I would not mind following the steps you use in study.

It looks more like grapes and carrots.
We are not talking about the same thing.
While I am talking about accepting Jesus, you want to talk about the effectiveness of one's salvation.

Well I am totally lost on what you are going on about. So, it is complicated.
At least we agree Jesus cannot be one's savior, if he is not one's Lord.

Oh the special study defense. why of course i can not just walk up to a person and ask are you a born again child of God. And they say no, then if i say, if you believe in Jesus, believing that Jesus is who He says He is: The promise Messiah / Son of God, the resurrection and the life. You have received God's free gift of Eternal Life and are now a permanent born again child of God.

I can not do that, no i have to drag them back to the original languages and teach them Greek and then after they have become fluent in Greek, i can in Greek ask them the original question i ask them etc....

What a way to try and keep your belief that James is addressing unbelievers and what they must do to receive Eternal life. Only problem receiving Eternal Life is not mentioned in Jame 2, why because James is addressing believers (2:1 My brethren,) who are already born again children of God.

As for Romans 10:10,11 again another verse that is not addressing what an unbeliever must do to be come a born again child of God. But is addressed to believers and the physical saving of believers when persecuted. If the believer will cry out to God, God will save this believer from harm.

Like i wrote in past post, it is simply stated in The Gospel of John what God requires of unbelievers to become a born again child of God, which is belief in Jesus. And like i said if you can not see this, i would suggest more study as Jesus states in John 6

Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.”
Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?”
Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”

Not everyone loves Jesus Christ of Nazareth however they believe for various reasons , theology, cultural, tradition, fear of hell etc. Of course knowing Him and who He is , is obviously necessary but, Love , Agape Love, is the Key to His Kingdom. He makes His Home in those who Love Him .
