D James Kennedy does an outstanding sermon about the First Thanksgiving and states how the early settlers tried to make what would become the United states a social colony...it just didn't work so they abandoned the idea and started over ...

my culture isn't something found on paper, it is something that has been lived for thousands of years and continues to be lived to this day. our human nature is to share and it does work.

selfishness and greed have always posed a problem, but it is something that is fought, not surrendered to.

so i don't know what you're trying to say. maybe you're just not familiar with the native culture.

I think you missed 1 Corinthians chapter 9

I think you need to go father back in terms of your understanding of what the tithe is. It was orginally used for the tribe of Levi who kept the temple. The 10th was for them so they could live.

I'm sorry, but that's illogical beyond belief. "Tithe" is not mentioned by Paul as a form of supporting preachers. Giving is the means by which pastors are supported. There is absolutely no way that New Covenant giving fits the regulations established for the Old Testament tithe.

I did go back to the root of the definition of tithing and you are still holding on to your personal interpretation of what you think it is. Did you not read the scripture I posted? You will find the same language all over Deuteronomy, and you will find nothing in the Law to support your position. To me that looks like proof that you value your opinions over what the Bible says. So, I will end this discussion peacefully but I suggest that if you are unwilling to examine the scripture, your doctrine consists only of what you deem acceptable to you in your mind.

The tithe only went to Levites every third year. The rest of the time, they ate firstfruit offerings. When it came time to eat the tithe, scripture clearly says that the Israelites were to provide food and drink for their Levites. But, the Israelites were commanded to eat their own tithes at the feasts of the Lord, as you should be able to clearly see.
