• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I'm in a bit of a dilly of a pickle of a problem.
My ex (who was my fiancee) ended it all 2 months ago and does not want a piece of me at all. Which really did hurt big time. To go from being college friends, to dating, to wanting to get married, to her not wanting anything to do at all with me really sucked. And the worst thing is that nothing happened really... we had a fight (our first and only fight) and she freaked out and ended it all.
I guess I am asking for two pieces of advice.
First of all, since we are both at college still, how do I best treat her, even though she wants nothing to do with me at all? I wanna be treating her in a Godly way but I have no idea how to do that when the other party wants nothing to do with you.
Secondly, I feel as though there is another girl I would like to pursue a relationship with, and I dont really know if i should or not. This girl and I are really good friends and we get on really well and i have a bit of a feeling that she feels the same way... but I dont know how I can/should a) if I should approach her about it and b) if it is the best time to approach her.
I feel as though I have dealt with all the grief of the break up with the other girl but im just not sure about what to do next with this other girl.
any advice would be sweet!

Adrock48,

Put God first, Put God first, Put God First...............
Seek First the kingdom of heaven.
Deuteronomy 6:4-9
Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one!
You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.
And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart.
You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.
You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.
You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

All God's Blessings,
Chosenpath

That's pretty extreme, but you have to remember that as a couple you need to work as a team to solve the problems, attack the ball not the players of your own team so to speak. The best approuch is to keep your distance and be nice to eachother in a relationship. What did you guys fight about?

We were having a debate about something eschatological (i dont remember exactly what) and i was getting a bit hot headed and i said to her that i was going to take a time out to calm down, she started getting excited and told me she was happy that she was getting me angry and i told her about my displeasure about her want to get someone she loves angry for the sake of getting them angry and that was what the fight was about. 2 weeks later she called the engagement off, and the relationship off all together. she wont even talk to me now and i dont know how to treat her.

so again the questions are
how do i treat her
and what do i do about this other girl?

Adrock, I would keep my distance--definitely stay away. Just leave her alone.

Especially if in any way you hurt each other, just stay away. And even if not, then still stay away. Don't try to do nice things for her, don't call her, don't "happen" to bump into her, don't try to see her.

Give you heart a chance to heal, and approach any other relationship slowly--just as a possible friendship, but nothing more.

Keep the distance. Be friend, but probably nothing more right now. Seek God first before you think of a relationship with a girl.

Any relationship with the opposite gender should be dealt with a careful process. You really need to understand what marriage is all about first. We all want to feel good with infatuating love and all the romance. But that's not good enough and it won't last. You will get hurt and hurt others at the end.

Let the Lord guide you and then you will know what to do. That's really the bottom line.
