i was just wondering what the christian view on abortion is and what everyone elses view on abortion is......personally i strongly disagree with abortion under every circumstance.....there is always a chance that the baby will be born healthy or stable if the doctors say he/she will be handicapped.....and if th woman was raped then it doesnt matter how the child cam into the world aslong as its here and has a chance to live its own life...

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

There is no "christian view" on abortion... as many xians are both pro-life and pro-choice.

A fetus develops the capacity for thought, its personality if you will, during the second trimester. Having thought is what separates a distinct human being from an aggragate of human cells, it is what makes them a person. Only a person can be murdered, so abortion before the second trimester should be permitted. Once the second trimester begins, it should not be permitted except for extreme medical emergencies.
Of course the very need for abortion is tragic is shows a lapse in sexual responsibility. I know that no contraceptive is fool proof, but the numbers are far too high for that and even ineptitude with contraceptives to explain. People are not taking sex seriously, and they are not taking responsibility for their actions. I am not saying that we should harrass those entering abortion clinics, but we should definitely offer them advice and counse if they are willing to listen.

im not saying that women who become pregnant in the rape or handicapped circumstances should have the baby and look after it their whole life...if they feel they cant look after the child there are people that will somewhere in the world......and when the child is old enough then it shall make the decision whether it wants to die or not...in the handicapped cases.....i cant change any mothers mind about this situation i just wanted to voice my oppinion and take note of others opinions

You leave a kid the choice of whether it wants to die or now?!?! That's quite a responsibility, it takes a HUGE amount of courage so even if a kids live has been everything but joy, it wouldn't commit suicide. And how do you want to arrange that on legal matters?

i dont know anything about the legal side of things....im only 14 but i do know that in my oppinion everyone should have the choice to life and death.....the child isnt there to say i want to die...i can see the other side of the argument that the child also cant say it doesnt want to die...so why not if theres a good reason.....but the child can make that decision when it is alive and stable and old enough to make the choice...many handicapped people from birth have good lifes....people assume that being handicapped would be the ultimate tragedy and that the person wants to die...but people taht say this probably havnt been in that situation so cant really say until they have....

Sorry, I didn't take notice of your age. Many handicapped people indeed have good lives, but that's not because of their handicaps, they just have learned to live with it. If abortion isn't an option, and you suggest other people in the world raising the children, them I'm affraid you'll have a huge shortage of host people (which there already is) and this will only result in African and Indian children not being able to get a parent.

well theres new generations being born everyday....no one knows what people are going to think in a few years the amount of host people might increase...no one knows....but when id get my life sorted when im older and have money ill consider looking after a handicapped child

If you want to have money, you'll probably have to work for it, and if you have to work, you can't raise a child and especially not a handicapped one. And I think it's predictable what will happen in the furure: 3rd world people have a huge load of children, and 1rst world people less and less, so you will definitely not get more host parents...

It's not always a matter of "learning to live with it" since in some cases it has always been there, and it is all you know. Sometimes a handicap can shape your life in ways that it wouldn't have been shaped otherwise. I am disabled by the way, and I have not "learned" to live with it as much as I have just...lived.

I'm politically pro-choice, and personally anti-convenience abortion. I think that if the baby has been formed without a brain or has died in a womb or there is a definate chance it will die/the mother will die (such as ectopic pregnancies), then it should be aborted. I know these cases are rare (such as harlequinn fetus' [I won't post pictures...google if you want to see...just keep in mind it might be disturbing]) but the option should be open.

That's pretty akward, but I've met a lot of people that I never realised existing the last two days (since I registered). Although I still fair to see how people can believe in the Bible, this might actually be very wise lesson. Until now, I've always tried to better myself on strength, knowlegde, social surface, intelligence, looks and wisdom. Although I possess little of most, I feel that this is going to help me.
