Unfortunately, I cannot vote with the choices given. I believe that the only viable reason for an abortion would be to save the life of the mother in the event of eminent death. Otherwise abortion is murder.

I was biopsied 8 weeks before I found out I was pregnant...it wasn't deemed urgent so it took them a while to get back to us...

When I found out it was cancer and I was preggers to boot, I carried my daughter anyway.

For the 14 months after her birth, I cared for her (with a lot of help from my church family) had 3 surgeries, the final one a hysterectomy, 6 months of chemotherapy, another 5 radiation treatments...

My Drs hounded me to abort..."my life was in danger"

bull!

I'm still here 8 years later  Praise G-d!

And so is my very healthy wonderful daughter ;)

That's terrific - good on you (and no, I'm not being sarcastic).

However, you don't have the right to demand that of others.

I find it interesting that the gods of the people that the Lord wanted His people Israel to utterly destroy many times demanded the sacrifice of new borns.

Baal worship included a small statue of the god that was heated to red hot and then firstborn infants were essentially BBQed on the outstretched arms of the statue. Although abortion is probably considered less gruesome than this... still, a living soul that God has destined to enter into the world is willfully destroyed.

Some of these gods were gods of pleasure... when an unwanted child arrives on the scene as the result of simple sexual lust and desire for this kind of pleasure... who is the sacrifice made to when the child is disgarded in abortion??

.

Thats a good point. Thats the spiritual force behind abortions, the same one thats always been after little children.

Ephesians 6:12 NIV
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Pro choice but only in the first trimester......

I love life and I am against murder, even the death penalty. But I know what can go wrong (worked in a prenatal diagnostics lab) with the embryo. I see it as euthanesia.......and I am for that as well, because I have this heart disorder and I can die slowly by suffication and that is a big, NO thank you! for me personal.

I also believe that good solid sex education is important to lower teen pregnancies. Not only talk about being abstinant, but also about the possibilities to avoid pregnancies and diseases with condoms and the Pill. The average teen is sexual active at 16-17 yo, BUT there are also younger girls and boys sexual active.

The life of the Mom can be in danger (In my case). I can get pregnant (at least, I think, I never tried) but accidents happen. I am a smart woman and if the contraceptive fails I run to the doc for the MAP (Morning after pill).....It happened only three times in my marriage (17 years marriage)...but if I get pregnant I need an abortion. God forbid that it will happen, but I want to live.....

I've also knows what it means to be raped. I understand all to well that these men are not the men women want children from. Yet many women keep the child.......It is just 1 % of all abortions. If you report the pregnancy you get a MAP. If you do not report it, nature itself has a protection and somehow just a few women get pregnant by rape......(1 in 4 women is sexually abused(1 in 8 men is sexually abused, but that is another topic).)

Anyway, even economic reasons can be a good reason. Every "case" (pardon they expression, these women aren't just cases) must be looked at individual.....You cannot see all these women as murderers........

BUT if a woman, mentioned in the situations I described doesn't have an abortion, I respect that and admire that as well. I even applaud the help group in our country that gives help to the mother, father and the unborn child in unwanted pregnancies.....They even help and support women who had abortions.......

But all and all it is a personal choice, a personal matter and everybody reacts differently in situations......

Did you know that pregnancies can have a positive effect on cancer and make it stop growing and so on? I have heard that a few times. I do not know if it is researched somehow but I believe that your daughter saved probably your life with the help of God...... I am happy it all worked out for you so well.....

Not all sad stories have a sad ending!

Just because somebody drives drunk and doesn't get in an accident doesn't mean their life wasn't in danger.

That said it is the Doctor's duty to provide information in as accurate, understandable and unbiased a way as possible, and to respect the decision made by the patient.

I think that is wonderful Gwen. I believe you were listening to the prompting of the Holy Spirit.

My support for any abortion at all is only in the case of immenent death of the mother. I also believe that, with todays medicine, such an occurance should be relatively rare, especially considering the ability premature births to grow into normal fully developed individuals.

In your case, it didn't sound like you were moments form expiring. It sounds like your health was sufficent throughout the pregnancy to bring about a normal delivery and a health child.

Praise God.
