Abortion - top moral issue of our time?

When a society turns away from God and ceases to be faithful to Him, He removes the restraints and allows Satan and his angels more freedom to cause the breakup of that society. We saw this in the northern kingdom of Israel which broke off from the southern kingdom, Judah. Israel under Jereboam went completely into idolatry, while Judah was mostly faithful to the Lord except in the end when they went into idolatry as well. All the ones in Israel who were faithful to the Lord, migrated to the south where they could worship in the Temple, while the idolatrous ones migrated to the north. It took 200 years for the northern kingdom to fall apart through a succession of evil kings. Then God allow its enemies to come in, take over, and finally wipe the northern kingdom off the map. In time Judah went into captivity, but they were not wiped off the map and 70 years later the Jewish remnant were able to return and rebuild the Temple. It shows that when a society turns away from God, Satan is given freedom to destroy that society from within and finally welcome its enemies to wipe if off the map.

The book of Hosea charts the decline of Israel, and there are startling parallels with what is happening in the United States. The legislature has largely turned away from God, and is trusting it is prosperity, wealth and military strength. Israel was exactly the same. It was wealthy, prosperous and ,militarily strong. As the United States is turning away from God, his judgment is beginning to be seen in the rise of abortions, homosexuality, rampant crime, looting and violence, police corruption and brutality, dishonest politicians and judges being bribed to make decisions favourable to vested interests instead of keeping true to the law. God is showing His judgment on the nation by stepping back and allowing Satan free range to implode the nation from within. As Satan brings the nation further and further into lawlessness and chaos, the way will be open for the nation's enemies to invade and take control.

If you read the history of the Roman Empire, you will see the same things happening. As Rome imploded into lawlessness, homosexuality, and where one faction starting warring against another, where in one year just before AD70, no new emperor lasted a few months, until Vespasian returned to take over as emperor. Things settled down for a while, but the rot had already settled in, and the Parthians and Vandals were threatening the empire, and finally they sacked Rome and took over.

Britain is going the same way. The churches standing up for the Gospel of Christ are in the minority. Christianity is losing ground against Islam, and it is now a criminal offence to say that homosexuality is immoral, and it is being outwardly displayed and celebrated by Pride marches in every main city. Abortion is commonplace with doctors deliberately killing aborted babies born alive, with one doctor struck off because she cut the vocal cords of babies to stop them screaming as they are bring killed. Why are these horrors being perpetrated. It is because God has turned His back on the nation, removed the restraints against evil, and allowed Satan freedom to do his evil work.

Judgment is already well on the way in both the United States and Britain, and it will not be long before both nations will be a chaotic mess and open for their enemies to invade and wipe these nations off the map.

The only thing that is now stopping the United States from being totally destroyed is its support for Israel. But as we read Revelation where all the nations of the world, including Britain and the United States will do battle against Israel, then we will see the end of these nations. The warning is to flee from the wrath to come by believing the Gospel and turning to Christ, then you will escape in the Rapture when Christ comes to receive His church to Himself, and then the Great Tribulation will commence with the introduction of the AntiChrist and his False Prophet.

Abortion may be the top moral issue in the United States of America, but it is hardly the top moral issue in many other countries. For example, a hot moral issue, historically, within Islam is the indulgence in alcoholic beverages.

One cannot prioritize one moral evil without minimizing others. That in itself is a moral evil.
What is important is making the right moral choices in our own lives.

I think I agree with what you have written; but could you expand on this thought. Do you mean in the case when someone most choose between two evils?

Abortion along with the promotion of sexual immorality including trans-sexuality and homosexuality, and also euthanasia, are among the primary moral crises in the developed world, along with the fact that some mainline denominations have been hijacked by people who have no problem with any of the above. Indeed a parish of the United Church of Canada “celebrated” a euthanasia in the nave of their church, in one of the most disturbing acts to occur in a church in my lifetime, perhaps the most disturbing, certainly far worse than the Episcopal Church putting on display a cross depicting our Lord, God and Savior Jesus Christ as a woman in the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City.

One cannot prioritize one moral evil without minimizing others.

Jesus did that every thing in Matt 22.

That in itself is a moral evil.

You are skipping over a few details

in 1 Cor 5 a man is expelled from church for a certain sin - - but that does not mean everyone else in church "was sinless"
