• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Freedom of speech, O mighty ones.;)

This is a privately owned forum, you have no freedom of speech here, O little one.

Look up the concept of property rights.

EDIT: And the irony of someone who wishes to shut people up because they are atheist invoking 'freedom of speech' is almost painful.

Goodness!! how can you possibly say that a fetus is not a person?!?! It is a living person. study some science, people!

 OK, now I'm scared. It's like you're me from 2003 who's come to the future in a time machine. ;)

I'd like to advise you to start thinking for yourself and being more open minded rather than sacrificing your adolesence to religion. Unfortunately, I doubt it will do any good, because people telling me that never did me any good. :sigh:

And I know you're certain that you're right...in the same way an alcoholic believes drink is the most important thing in life.

Women not in control of their bodies? If they are not responsible enough to to take care of a child; they should of contimplated that before they went and had sex!
More often than not, that's not the only reason for an abortion.

True. JESUSFREAK1354, freedom of speech (assuming for the sake of argument that we possess it here) runs both ways. You may express your opinions as you like as long as you don't violate the forum rules. In return, everyone, including the atheists to whom you seem most unwilling to listen, will express theirs. This section is open to all members.

I'm not sure that's quite fair. As for me, I'm both. As I said in post #2, I think abortion is terrible. But not as terrible as outlawing it.

Agreed. I'd rather see more women giving their children up for adoption than aborting their pregnancy.

Probably, yes. For me personally it was mostly down to the particularly strict stance Catholicism has on abortion, and the huge amount of emphasis it puts on the issue. Because of that, many 'pro-life' groups deeply embedded in the Catholic community use, or often abuse, emotions very powerfully.

In other words you were brainwashed.

YES IT DOES EFFECT ME! Boys are aborted. I just hate murder of any kind. Abortion doesn't just effect the woman, it effects the life of a real living child.

Have you read the list of fallacies I posted for you yet? Your underwhelming emotional "arguments" are not going to persuade anyone to your position, and you are making yourself look foolish.

Your choice.

Clearly because YOU say so? Sorry you need a rational and logical argument to state why abortion is in essence irresponsible.

But she's a self-proclaimed Roman Catholic (well, at least this week she is), that means she doesn't need a rational argument. The Vatican teaches abortion is wrong, therefore, as a "good" RC she must accept it.

Once again because you say so?

No, it's because the Roman Catholic Church told her so, nevermind the institution's own moral track record.

Hmmm... why is it that all the adults that I talk to think young people are mindless idiots? These are real issues in my generation. I have every right to express my opinion about them. Perhaps childhood is not what it was when you were growing up, paperkate.

Mindless idiots.. no, but some young teens are still rather sponge like, they soak it up, and when you squeeze the brain out comes most of what they soaked in.

My 14 year old can put up a pretty good debate on either side of most issues, without making allegations regarding the ability of those she is discussing things with to understand their science lessons.

At your age you should be past the "black" and "white" morality that preteens often exhibit. To be sure something is wrong for you does not mean you know with perfection what is right or wrong for every other person as they approach the same issue. It's okay though.. it's easier to see a kid that still needs to learn the world doesn't revolve around their personal morality than someone who is decades older and still can't fathom that they don't get to make the rules for everyone else.

We are not animals.

:o The American educational system is really failing our children if they don't know the basic facts of biology.

If we are not animals, plants, or minerals, then what exactly are we?

The day that you can admit that the god you worship is evil for ordering the murder of women and children and for murdering the babies of egypt, you can preach about morals. Till then, grow up kid.

No one knows why God does the things does. Perhaps God is politicly correct, like you: Morcova. Perhaps He wanted to let people make their own choices.;)

If you would quote my entire post, you would see That I said God created us beings in His own image, over(and more intellegent beings!) the animals.

But if people made their own choices that God could not predict, then God is not omnipotent.

Which choices? The choice to believe what we want, to express those beliefs?

Or the choice to control our own bodies? Or the choice to deny others their rights?

Which of these choices does God want us to be able to make for ourselves?
