  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

To be quite honest, I really don't care if a woman wants to abort her child. I don't agree with it, but then again, she has to live with that decision everyday for the rest of her life. Personally, I feel that if a person feels that they are mature enough to have consentual sex, then they are mature enough to deal with the possible consequences, i.e unwanted pregnancies or sexually transmitted diseases. The only time I approve abortions is during instances of rape/incest or where the life of the mother is in jeopardy (the fetus is killing the mother). I don't think it's right to take the right of an abortion away from women even though I don't agree with it. That's just my opinion.

Thats pretty much my stance as well. Hey, on a totally unrelated topic, is it true what they say about banana slugs?
Banana Slugs

These slugs have a few issues in life, not the least of which is that they look like the end result of stomach cramps brought on by a diet high in lentils and curry.
Another problem for the lowly slug is that the average eight-inch slug has an eight-inch penis, and when he first realizes this, he's probably pretty stoked. Then when he hears through the grapevine that his mate could potentially chew it off, the wind may be taken from his sails.
Because their penis could be the same size as their body, they need to find a mate who's the same size. If they happen to have an issue with depth perception, they won't properly fit and their special friend will gnaw on it like a NASCAR fan with a stick of jerky to solve the problem. The record holder for banana slugs had a penis five times the length of its own body, which we assume he just wrapped around his head to pretend it was a cool pompadour and sideburns when not in use.

Being in the mud slinging war of politics, I apologize to others for having believed what I read and promoted the same. Being neutral would be the best Christian response since the truth is a hard thing to come by during elections (or even when trying to understand many things).

The below website is more realistic concerning Obama. We need to research before believing anything. The best research would be to listen to the guy before accepting what others say. I recommend a lot of listening to him first. Meet the guy first.

My brother, being an agnostic, can see through things that most Christians don't even know to be very hypocritical. My brother asked me, "Why would I not vote for Obama just because I don't agree with him on abortion, yet vote for a party that is easily involved in wars (killing the unborn and born of all ages, sexes and beliefs). I had to agree with him. All the ways of the world are cruel, especially that of war. Running to war isn't a Christian value under Christ Jesus. Which candidate to vote for? Well, it is already over. Quit judging and start loving. The one thing that Christ tried to tell us was to love others and not to judge them. We belong to him for that act of ours (loving and not judging).

I think that I have a new description of my faith. I am not sure, but I think that it is right. I believe in Jesus Christ and have a personal relationship with our Father through him. I would call myself unapologetic. I don't defend myself. I simply tell why I have this hope in me. Praise God. People of the theologians must be apologetic, for they feel that they must defend their Church's doctrine (theological differences from others). Why would we need to defend our relationship with our Father? We really don't belong to a church system; for in our robe of white we belong to Christ and with the purity (holiness) of obeying him and trusting him alone. Praise God. Where did I find this word, “unapologetic”? Obama is very intelligent, more than I realized. I thought that I was intelligent. Thank goodness that I now realize my place. We need intelligent people to be our leaders. Obama seems to be this. This website might help some to explain things (however, I recommend listening to Obama by what he has written and said first off. Isn’t that what unbiased people of the truth are suppose to do anyway?):

I voted against Obama primarily because of the abortion issue.

Aaron,
At one point that would have been one of my main considerations. Right now, I'm equally worried about the unchecked expansion of executive power, the government spying on ordinary American citizens without judicial oversight, the separation of powers, habeus corpus, cruel and unusual punishment and torture, the abuse of executive privilege, and other basic constitutional issues. To me, some of these are moral issues too, and rather fundamental to democracy and freedom as our Constitutional tradition defines them. And I rather expect stare decisis to make it rather tough for *any* Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade at this point. So I'm inclined to vote for the person who is most likely to select a Supreme Court that will protect the Constitutional tradition as a whole.
I am concerned about unchecked expansion of Judicial power... which is something Obama heavily implied he supported in an all too little listened to interview in Chicago 6 years ago.
