A super strange thing happened to me at the store last night.
I go once a month or so and I usually, more like always get two carts of groceries.
I fill one up and leave it up front for the managers to save for me.
On a couple of occasions the stockers have put everything I have put in the very full basket back on the shelves, GRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
Last night the normal routine and the cart was put up front
I finally fill the second one and went to get the second cart and pay for them.
There is always a helper to push the extra cart. So we go to the cashier that was holding it and she said the lady already took them and paid for them. SHOCK, what lady I am the one that left them. She says "Well she said it was her basket so she paid for all of it and left" There was only one thing she didn't want that was in the basket. I am so shocked!!!
We are talking an overflowing basket. With all kinds of things. It is just unreal to me why this would ever happen. So after spending three hours I had to start all over with the first basket.
What possible reason would a person do that? Why would she possibly want all that I had shopped for.
I am still in shock, plus I lost because if you buy ten particular items you get a discount and of course some of the items were in the first cart I didn't get the discount. I am changing stores because this kind of foul up goes on every time I go there with numerous mistakes on what they charge. Including having to spend hours there because of so many problems. I will never know nor will that ever happen again i hope, what that was about.
WHAT DO YOU THINK THIS WAS ABOUT?

That is crazy and must be so frustrating! You just want everyone to do their job competently so you can go about your life. But people do weird things in shops all the time, including the staff!. Do you put a sign on your trolley saying 'shopper will be back with other groceries soon' with a phone number or something, or does the manager hope that somehow all the staff will know it's set aside? Is it left in a special zone where other shoppers aren't supposed to go?

They used to put a sign on it. They usually keep it in a special place and by a cashier. Which is always what I request but the helper I asked to do it was new and it seemed I had to explain a lot for him to understand. I think they will be glad when I am gone as I require a helper for some of it. But for me is how did that woman know that someone was saving it so she could claim it? The cashier had a good point as the stocker brought the basket for her to save so she didn't know what I looked like so when the woman said it belonged to her, the cashier wasn't going to argue with her. I can only shake my head in dismay and want to cry because it is so frustrating to shop there anyway. The other store I will be going to costs more to get a ride there as it is farther away. But I am hoping will be far better on my blood pressure.
Thank you for responding.
Merry Christmas!

They have done that before but why lie? That makes sense and even more of a reason not to use that store again. That would explain the cashiers attitude. She was on the defensive.
Thanks for that, that really does make sense.
Merry Christmas to you!

That makes me feel even worse though, that they would do that and lie on top of it. It messed me up so bad I forgot a lot of what I still needed and had to try to figure out all that was in the basket to replace it.

I got mad at my store because they no longer stock Alberto VO5, my hair dressing. Now I buy it cheaper on Amazon. :) (They also stopped stocking my favorite 'brown 'n serve' rolls, and Amazon doesn't sell them either.) :(

I am glad you found it cheaper elsewhere, that worked out for you. A friend says they have the most wonderful brown and serve rolls at Sams town. Her children beg her to buy them a lot.:)

In thinking it over though why would she bother to say that the woman didn't want one thing in the basket. Why bother to go that far with the lie?

We used to do a big shopping trip once a year for canned and dry foods. We shopped at Piggly Wiggly and filled three of those giant shopping carts to the brim. Those foods lasted for a whole year. Of course we had to buy perishable foods each week or so. We also had a small freezer that we filled with meats a couple times each year. We had milk delivered 2 or 3 times a week.

I would go more often but I have to hire a lyft driver and round trip it can be expensive so I try to get as much as I can when I go. Besides the staples I only buy what's on sale so sometimes I have to go another time not on the schedule to get that sale item that wasn't on sale before. I am going to talk to the help counter about those items that one was missing so I lost the savings on the ten and see if she will give me the difference. Another thing they do that has happened more than once is I always see Kroeger soup on my receipt which I never by their soup so I am thinking they use the code for that to cover another product they don't have a code for? Not having a car or truck anymore is sure inconvenient.
