  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Stealing this from DU, very well-written:

Your pollsters and your pundits lied to you.

They told you all the mainstream polls were "skewed".

They told you it was going to be a Romney landslide.

They said their internal polls showed that Romney was ahead, and that Pennsylvania was in play.

They lied.

They did it because they wanted to manipulate you and make sure that you were excited enough to go out and vote. Maybe you understand why they lied, but it should be clear to you by now, that they did indeed lie to you.

They lie to you about other things as well. They definitely lied about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. They are lying to you about climate change. And they constantly lie to you about the income distribution of the tax cuts they propose.

The biggest lies they tell, though, are about us - the liberals. The truth is this:

We believe in hard work, and that it would be best if every able-bodied working age person had a job.

We believe in families; strong families make a strong America.

We believe in the freedom of religion. We would never support a candidate who was openly hostile to Christianity (or Judaism, or Islam, etc.).

We believe in success. Most of us do not favor punitive tax rates for the rich; we just think that middle class and working class families should get extra breaks on their taxes that the rich do not need.

We believe in free enterprise capitalism (well, most of us). Capitalism works through competition, and competition fails when big businesses are allowed to run roughshod over smaller businesses and workers. That's why we favor regulated capitalism instead of a Wild West free-for-all.

Most of all, we believe in America. We love this country and we strive to make it better. We may not always be right about everything, but we are motivated by our love of the country and its people - ALL of its people.

We are your friends and your neighbors. We have jobs, kids, mortgages, bills, honey-do lists, and headaches just the same as you. We aren't the monsters Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck told you we were.

Your pollsters and your pundits lied to you.

I'm telling you the truth.

Hi, SnowCal.

Similarly, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Fox News, Mitt Romney and other conservatives aren't the monsters your so-called news sources said they were. They lied to you.

The one suggestion I would make to you, SnowCal, is to check your news using original sources. In the internet age it isn't all that difficult and it gets easier the more you do it.

Really. I'm telling you the truth.

It's odd that you suggest I do something I already do.

I often don't post links, due to being on a phone and not being able to copy them, but I use original sources almost entirely. There's maybe one secondary source that I use and it's mostly for entertainment, not information.

And they dismissed Nate Silver's work. Oops.
Nevertheless, these arguments are potentially more intellectually coherent than the ones that propose that the race is “too close to call.” It isn’t. If the state polls are right, then Mr. Obama will win the Electoral College. If you can’t acknowledge that after a day when Mr. Obama leads 19 out of 20 swing-state polls, then you should abandon the pretense that your goal is to inform rather than entertain the public.
Nate Silver On Who Political Pundits Who Are Mostly Entertainers - Business Insider

Perhaps I miss the profoundness of Nate Silver's obvious observation.

Ah, DU. A group full of such hate and disdain for anyone to the right of Pelosi. They can keep their sympathy, I want none of it.

I appreciate the sentiment, Snocal, but having a "they lied about us" post from a group that ALWAYS lie about us isn't endearing, it's insulting.

I actually didnt think Mitt Romney was bad, I just disagreed with him. Rush and Fox News, I dont think are monsters; I just think they just tow the party line no matter what. I once watched a Fair and Balanced report on Fox about transgender children and all of their "experts" were against it. To be balanced shouldnt they have had someone on from both sides and let them debate? Glenn Beck I dont know enough about to discuss.

I never believed it would be a landslide. I HOPED it would be a landslide, but it was a very small hope.

Well, four more years of the racist in chief. I guess Democrats love this country so much they're officially racist against its majority.

Huh? Obama had the majority of the votes too.

Yea I always tell someone that the result is going to be a landslide to get them out to help. I'm always motivated to go out when i won't make a difference.

NOT

You tell your loyal followers that it is going to be close and their vote will make a difference.

BUT it seems someones need to vilify the other side is stronger than any desire to make sense.

Project much?
I don't support a party platform of racist quotas, or racist ideologies like Critical Race Theory, so no. I was never at Harvard, telling students to open their minds to racist hatred. That was Obama. I never went to Louisiana and riled up racial resentment and hatred over hurricane Katrina. That was Obama. I never wrote in my autobiography that I would like to expunge a certain race from myself. That was Obama. I never appointed a member of a racial supremacist group to the SCOTUS. That was Obama.

Since you have the emblem, I have to ask: how do feel about the party supporting racism as part of their platform? How did it feel to cast a vote for a virulent racist?
