A Successsful Life

I believe a successful life is one in which the individual:

  • got to do all or most of the things he wanted to do, regardless of what he was able to get.

  • got or received all or most of the things he wanted, regardless of what he was able to do.

  • achieved both, with greater emphasis on doing what he wanted to do.

  • achieved both, with greater emphasis on getting what he wanted to get.

Material things?

I think you miss the whole point of what I was saying.

Christ is there for you, he longs to come to you.
Then I don't understand your objections. There is no debate on the availability of Christ. This is what Christianity is about. The question is whether a successful life is defined by what we do or by what we get. Those two categories cover all of life. You are either getting something or doing something.

Your loosing something, your sinfull self.

There are four conversions every person will go through.

1. Conversion to Christ

Stage one - Christ? ...... dont know
Stage two - Christ,.......christ as part of my life but not central
Stage Three - Christ.....Christ as central to my life
Stage four - Christ:.......Understanding christ better (on going conversion)
Stage Five - Christ!.......Action in Christ (on going conversion)

follow the same pattern down

2. Coversion to voctation

Stage one - vocation?
Stage two - vocation,
Stage Three - Vocation.
Stage four - vocation:
Stage five - vocation!

3. Conversion to the Church

Stage one - Church?
Stage two - Church,
Stage three - Church.
Stage four - Church:
Stage five - Church!

4. Coversion to love

Stage one - love?
Stage two - love,
stage three - love.
Stage four - love:
Stage five - love!

We are called to an ever deepening relationship with him, christ wants to come to you.

success is allowing christ to enter our lives, to come to us, only that achievement is done by Christ, not ourselves.

I am sorry if its off topic but I thought we were talking about success.
This is not. Your posts on the four conversions is. You are still defining a successful life in terms of something you get while claiming that it is not. The purpose of this thread was not to differentiate between which lives are more successful than others. It is an interesting topic but not the purpose of this thread.
