  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Good-Day my 2 favorite brother's,and 1 blessed Sister on this more often than not, Christian-hate your fellow-Christian-site! But GOD did forwarn to Tell us that in the last days "because iniquity will abound, the love of many shall grow cold"!! He also said in John 15 or somewhere close to that chapter, that the way the "world" of people around us would truly "know" that we were truly His disciples (the born again children of GOD in Chist's Spirit) is that we would or will (LOVE) other's!

There is very little I can actually share about my current struggle. What I can say is that our pastor and my husband stood firm on the word of God. Because of that, someone who was not please by what God says, viciously attacked us, using our son's recent death as a weapon. We still struggle with our sons death, so ripping that wound open again, is just a bit much. But Praise be to God, neither of us have ill feelings for the one who did this, just need some time to feel a bit. We were just getting to the point of being back into full swing. thanks so much for all the love, you cannot know how wonderful that is to our hurting hearts

I am going to try this bible memorizing technique i found. Hopefully it will help me learn, remember what i learn and stay out of trouble all the the same time. I'll share it below if anyone else may be interested for themselves, i know i could use it myself.

It seems difficult at first but its not when you consider it doesn't take much time and could be used in my regular bible study time anyways. Like the author says, if i stick with it, i will memorize the bible. I think ill just memorize a Gospel, the epistles and the book of Acts though. I i can get through that i may consider other books in the Holy Bible

Memorizing the Bible
Dr. Steve Clinton
November 1, 2004
Memorization - "Writing the Word of God on my heart so that I can repeat it perfectly."
Many of us have memorized a verse here or there, or even completed a series which might have 12 or 24 verses. And that is all good. But some people have memorized whole books of the Bible. I know two who have memorized the whole Bible.
Most people who do memorize use skills based on sheer repetition; that is, they say a verse over and over until they can say it correctly. Then the next day they do that again. Eventually they have it down fairly well - for about six months. I did this for years.
One day, after I had finished university and graduate school, a man who claimed to have memorized the whole Bible came to the campus where I was working. He spoke to our group there and after speaking he was asked about the memorization. He commented, "Well, I am fresh on the New Testament right now. Name a chapter." After ten minutes of people calling out a chapter reference and hearing him immediately begin giving it to us in King James English, he said, "Would you like to learn how to memorize?" We all said yes.
Being who I am, needing to take things apart to see what makes them work, I have experimented with this system a lot. Eventually I went back to the system pretty much as he taught it to us. I have had the chance to teach this to about 8000 people all over the world.
Here it is for you.
1. What are the benefits of Bible memorization?
a. preparation for spiritual warfare - In Matthew 4 Jesus did not say to Satan, "hold on a minute while I look for a verse on that." We need to have a prior memorization of the Word, have it in our heart - our affective center, so we can face the temptations of the world, the flesh, and the devil.
b. foundation for holy living - as committed Christians we all want to do what God wants us to do. A lot of what He wants us to do is given to us in the Bible. After I memorized Ephesians I saw many ways to apply it to life. I began to see 3-5 applications from specific verses every day. Then I thought: and there are 65 more books! I think God would be seen much more in our daily life, and we would be more ready to obey Him if we knew more scripture.
c. basis for understanding and integrating all truth - the Bible is the main source of truth for Christians. But it is not our only source; we have parents, Christian friends, practical wise non-Christian friends, science, reason, our own experience. All these are sources of learning for all of us. But the Bible gives us a solid foundation and sets the standard for integrating all other truths into a coherent system of knowledge. The Holy Spirit works with all this.
d. increase self-knowledge and self-worth - You can memorize it! You really can! You can also use this same method to memorize anything - recipes, people’s bios, textbooks, to do lists, anniversaries. It can really help you in hundreds of ways.
2. How can I memorize?
a. Pick a topic (telling the truth; being a good husband and father; etc.) and a passage (1 verse to a chapter on that topic) and a version of the Bible you like (how do you want to have this memorized forever?).
For example, you can begin with Ephesians six, verses 10-18, which is one of the three primary passages on spiritual warfare.
b. Memorize five verses daily
1) read the first verse out loud three times
Eph. 6:10 "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might."
Go ahead, right now, and say this verse above out loud three times. Look at it and make sure you are saying it correctly each time.
2) write the verse one time, looking at it in its biblical form and making sure you write
it correctly

Go ahead and write it on the line above.
3) read what you wrote above here, out loud, three times
4) say the verse without looking at it
That’s it! You did it!
5) repeat steps 1-4 with each verse [they are listed below]
6) After each step 4, say the accumulated verses together
c. Follow a review pattern Review each set of verses once daily for one week.
Review consists of saying the verse. If you cannot remember some verse, look it up and read it out loud twice. For example, if you are memorizing Eph. 6:1-18 it might look like this:
First week: Eph. 6:1-24
Monday
Tuesday
Wednesday
Thursday
Friday
am memorize vs. 1-5
6-10
11-15
16-20
21-24
pm review: vs. 1-5

Second week Eph. 1:1-23
Monday
Tuesday
Wednesday
Thursday
Friday
am memorize vs. 1-5
6-10
11-15
16-20
21-23
pm 6:6-24; 1:1-5
6:10-24; 1:1-10

I heard that!

To today, I spent a lot of time on God's voice and how sweet it is to learn the sound of that voice by quieting ourselves and listening.

John 10

May we all quiet ourselves and listen, may we learn the voice of our shepherd and take comfort in that voice.

Please brothers and sisters eat The Word and live on Him and don't let any other force take The Word under control that is my urgent advise to you about this.

Please do think about this could and form of self effort lead the Way. Would Christ want us to get to know Him like that? Would getting to know The Living Word on a personal basis not be far more pleasing to Him?

See I used to walk around trying to ram Jesus into my memory banks. I was reasonably good compared to others around me, though far from the best, no matter how hard I tried to remember the verses and lines. Consequently I lived with pride as well as frustration not remembering Him rightly and I'm not even about talking how I often used to Word wrongly because my theory was my own insight and not The Living Word as I got to know Him.

See this is what I believe the battle is about to be One with The Word and not just know the words and the place where they are written (I'm still hopeless about that.)

When I was confronted with what my unfaithfulness to Him had brought me - my bad life, I understood Jesus lives in us for for our lives He died so bad I could be for Him to call.

He wrote The Bible and knows it better than anyone else. (Indeed I discovered that to find Him means that - The Living Word will take us upstairs to our Heavenly Father and into eternal bliss - that is what I know now is knowing The Word is all about. Rev 4.) However I got a crazy mind and what was so much worse - years of studying all kinds of human theologies and theories - everything mixing and contradicting and demanding adherence - consequently I understood I was unable to read The Scroll rightly. So I decided That Jesus best teach me to read The Word rightly and to know Him properly.

So only I read the Word when He called me, and then I just open The Word (unless He told me where to eat Him) - and let Him lead me (back) onto The High Way.

Unbelievable how He challenged me - He truly put my world upside down, This process works like Wheels within Wheels, what I mean to say - in love of God I will already know Him quiet well, but in other parts/times of/in myself I did not -- so to let The word speak to me in REAL time - just like wheels rolling - this the best way to get The Word into you I found.

Living life freely - loving God, self and neighbour - awaiting Him while eating Him - is what brings the false prophet hiding in our hearts out in The Open first of all. (It is best to let The word reveal Him well - that is through divine love - for he is a tricky customer let me assure you. Which in turn will reveal the harlot in us - or the spirit of unfaithfulness to God's loving truth - and greed, lust, selfishness and secretiveness - (to name but two culprits) - rules our loves in life.

When we let ourself go free from religious restrains then The B.i.t.c.h will soon grab hold of God's grace and show off her greed after God's Good Creation - the five kings ruling our flesh (our very God given senses to enjoy His Godd) she uses to control God's good with. Very much like it is in this world she works also within us.

She is the mother of all that in us where we are stuck with wilful sin - where no freedom rules and the rules are impossible to obey for Satan made sure of that in the first place. Which in turn will bring about the return of The Accuser full swing firing us with all the loveless deeds he has on us in us because of her - in the end he will burn her with fire - just think about shame, guilt, fear bombarding our hearts (Can you see the abomination taking shape - no grace and no Jesus but that seven headed monster ruling on God's throne instead? I know it did for me when The Word showed all this for the first time ling in me - that is the time to run friends - for terrible persecution of God's own will begin in your heart right about then.)

As you can see The Word dumped all my human understand overboard - Jesus and Him crucified showed me The Truth of The Lies ruling us - for we are still sinning and we are still being punished for that with death - though all has been paid for!

It was only when I met Him like that that I began to grasp how bad things truly are. And so He revealed my inner world of being as described in The Word perfectly and all the enemies of God's own in me where revealed!

The The Truth of Armageddon is VERY REAL - for 2/3 of my personal make-up (even of my own household) got wiped out! However before that great and dreadful day the little horn of Daniel 7 will have his reign - where Satan along with the false prophet and all that which dwells in our unfaithful love (Revelation 2) will have his say and our world in being rules us - anti-christ of anti-christ's to be - the son of lawlessness - or also know as the one doomed to destruction.

Terrible times proceeds his coming, and it is best to stay humbly on ones knees throughout such times and not go runining of doing things for that creep who sells God's grace for a price - for only hearing The word in love can safe from the power of evil - for everything in us which cannot love rightly will follow that clever deceiver. (Daniel 10-12, Rev 8-19)

Be of good courage though - for I read the Bible for years on end and remembered hardly anything - Yet when I met Him within me - after only just 4 years of eating and heeding Him - learning to be obedient to Him - He has done awesome wonders in my life - while during this time I read the Bible only a few times a day - if at all - and often would get further than just a few lines before I was full as a boot He is unstoppable once He begins to roll down that Mountain! (Hurray!)

I do hope I'm making sense:wave:

I agree brother. But I do see some value in taking the scripture that God shows me and memorizing the part of it that can help someone. But i havn't done that yet. As far as staying on my knees in prayer i couldn't agree more brother.

I don't read the word that much either, but when i debate the Word with others my Computer and my memory and even the HS at times, at least i must think so, also guides me. I learn more by debating the word with others and searching for scripture than just reading the word i think. But i agree we must constantly struggle to remain humble and try and love also. Debating i have found does teach the word pretty well i think. If we are humble enough to admit when we are wrong, thats hard but thats where Gods power is i think, when we humble ourself and admit when we are wrong, then he blesses us with more understanding of His word. I like to stick with the New testament but not revelation to much, maybe if God wills it i will learn more about that book also.

My brother i think you're saying that Humility and prayer is the Key. Its the key to learning scripture properly, and i agree. Debating under that can help us learn.

Yes indeed to love The Truth knows no arrogance and only prides in Him.

About The Book of Revelation I'll give you the most honest and best advise as I possible can. Eat Him as fast as you can learn those Words inside out and find Him!

The Book of Revelation The Very Best Word - The Very Word you are waiting for even! The Living Word as is written in The Book of Revelation is Jesus Coming Down from Heaven and Taking us in S(s)pirit to His Father in Heaven and brings us into Eternal O(o)neness.

It is unspeakable beautiful and so incredible Joyful to meet up with our Heavenly Father and Brother and Everyone else as well - knowing Him lights The Fire of His Love within us like no other Word has in my life - I know this for sure.

What an incredible adventure This Word turned out to be. Awesome is just a word made-up of letters and stuck with our limited experience for it falls far short of how good it really is to meet Him.

The Best part for me was that the DREAD that lived in me about this Bible book - is on the ones dreading it - and not for us who love The Lord - for it is indescribable awesome to meet Jesus as King of kings and Lord of lords in REAL LIFE and not just theory. I found that it is unclean spirituality inside of us who who make us fear The Book of Revelation.

Indeed they spun horrific stories in my heart and mind about all the things God would do in His wrath to me for being such a sinner - the opposite was true - though I will wail my remorse thinking about God like that forever -which was my true sin - and brought me gnashing of teeth and biting of tongue to His glory and my shame.

Our Heavenly Father is Holy, Holy Holy - this means in reality that we lay flat on the floor near death, our flesh quivering from delight when He comes near us. For Heaven and Earth flee away before His presence - Not because He demands that like some tyrant would but because He is The Truth of Love and so Good that one must meet Him to begin to understand what I'm saying - An ALL Consuming Fire!:pray::pray:

To be send back down after meeting Him is a real cold shower though and will turn our flesh sour ever after that - knowing Him is so much better than life we cannot accurately discuss His goodness for we always fall so incredibly far sort. So my dear struggling brother why would you not want to meet Him who is better than live and loves you so much that He denied Himself His presence in you because you choose to walk with those other ones?

Why would you not want His love to burn of the sin that remains - for what I could not bring about in my heart when it came to repentanc, meeting our Heavenly Brother and Father certainly encouraged me in all my heart to love and fear Him.

If I was you I would not heed those voices/forces that try to keep you away from Him - honestly true mate they cannot be trusted to say it right. And Don't only eat God there, but also eat prophetic books like Isaiah, Zachariah, Ezekiel, Hosea, Daniel and the likes for The Word is simply delightful in getting through that horrible desolation of a life-time we go through before the greenery of the Other Side sets our dessert into Bloom. (Rev 12) Do remember my dear friend only through Him can you Enter God's Rest, The Living Word is The Door through which we enter Heaven there ain't no other way to meet up with The Father than through Him.

So please dear brother, (I do implore you here,) do consider going Home and saying hallo to Him and All. He literally has been dying to meet you.

Zachariah because It is rebuilding The Temple at Zion which is at hand.

Ezekiel because no other prophet brings us such a clear blue print of sinful life exiled and God's directions about the New to be build - apart of Of Isaiah perhaps.

Isaiah is The Book of Revelation in O.T. language - and in particularly appropriate for those believers who have been brought up in the faith since birth, like myself. For The Word knows His own inside out that is for sure.

Daniel for his demonstration of incredible wisdom to survive our stay in and at The Tend get Babylon to send us Home and permit us to rebuild the (Ezekiel) temple as described in the book as well as Zachariah in finest detail.

Hosea to understand why the desert is so important for us when it comes to our life in the spirit of spiritual unfaithfulness and fornication.

And so on....

He is so helpful for us to understand what is all going on in that sinful heart of ours that is for sure.

I hope you forgive me my passionate preaching to you here brother, it is just that I know He is so eager for you to Come along with Him especially in those parts of your life where you are hurting sin.

That The Peace Greeting of Revelation 1 speaks to you Today and always my friend and brother. (I simply adore Him hearing Him speak to me like that.)

(Sorry about the formatting I don't know what is wrong - nothing works on my browser today - so I'm using some weird webbrowser to get this out neatly - instead of my beloved firefox.):confused::confused::confused:

Revelation 1

The revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, 2 who testifies to everything he saw—that is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near. Greetings and Doxology John, To the seven churches in the province of Asia: Grace and peace to you from him who is, and who was, and who is to come, and from the seven spirits[a] before his throne, and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father—to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen. “Look, he is coming with the clouds,” and “every eye will see him, even those who pierced him”; and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.” So shall it be! Amen. “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”

So I've been working on a "short" definition of love (biblical love) see what you think...btw, the order is important.

Love is putting another above self as the result of living in humility. Thus leading us into a covenant that transforms us into beings that are alive in Christ. Restoring to us the value that God created us with.

Also done a study on love in greek and hebrew.

The above is what I use to define a Godly marriage also.
