Why has God not taken this virus away? I don't want to die, I don't want my wife to die, I don't want my in-laws to die.

Please God take this away from us, please forgive us our sin.

Why has God not taken this virus away?
I know one reason: for the salvation of the elect in the world.

This will be used, even if most of us aren't aware of it, in some place at some time to humble and draw those sinners to Christ, whoever they are. Don't be afraid, our God is in control. He has all things under his perfect and wise providence, and there is good in it. If he decides to take any of us home, despite our efforts to stay safe, then to die is gain and we will be with him.

"I will give them a heart to know that I am the Lord, and they shall be my people and I will be their God, for they shall return to me with their whole heart." (Jeremiah 24:7).

Let us pray that God would use this to humble the nations. Let us pray for healing to those infected, for consolation to those who lost loved ones, but most of all that through this that they may know Christ.

This is a good opportunity to share the gospel to the fearful and ill.

Do any of these people that you love have conditions that reduce their immunity or heart failure or COPD? If not, they are not any more likely of dying of this disease than the flu.

However, God doesn't promise us a perfect life in this fallen world. Everyone dies. Most die later in life. Others die of many other things. My husband died at 41 of cancer. This doesn't mean that God didn't love him or me (and our kids). God provided us the support to figure out how to survive his death. It is a lesson in trust and faith.

So you think the reason there is so much pain and suffering in the world is to strike a balance between this planet not being hell on Earth, and that many people will only turn to God at their lowest point?

I wonder though, what about people who turn FROM God because of this world being so tough? Maybe different people are placed in different roles because of how they react to things (maximize what would cause each person to turn to God)? Of course the complications of the interactions of other free willed people really complicates things! Tough questions.

Why should God take this illness away or end it when there have been far more dangerous illness, pandemics etc like he black death which killed a third of the population in England.

If you are a Christian you have nothing to fear as the Bible says romans8:28 All things work together for the good of those who are called according to be purpose.

Do you believe this?

Maybe He did, and a baby He created that was killed by abortion was going to be the one person that would have come up with the cure.

I don’t think you will died to this virus. But, I think, if you are a disciple of Jesus, it would be good to understand, this life is not all, this is only a temporary situation that is not meant to last forever and we should not fear anything of this world.

And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell…
Matt. 10:28

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has punishment. He who fears is not made perfect in love.
1 John 4:18

Therefore I tell you, don't be anxious for your life, what you will eat, nor yet for your body, what you will wear. Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing. Consider the ravens: they don't sow, they don't reap, they have no warehouse or barn, and God feeds them. How much more valuable are you than birds! Which of you by being anxious can add a cubit to his height? If then you aren't able to do even the least things, why are you anxious about the rest? Consider the lilies, how they grow. They don't toil, neither do they spin; yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if this is how God clothes the grass in the field, which today exists, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith? Don't seek what you will eat or what you will drink; neither be anxious. For the nations of the world seek after all of these things, but your Father knows that you need these things. But seek God's Kingdom, and all these things will be added to you.

I do. I have diabetes and a history of bronchitis, which I have right now. (Called the Dr. and I told her I took some antibiotics I had left from when I got cellulitis in the summer and they gave me new antibiotics I finished them and I have an inhaler. My Dr. told me to go to urgent care if it got worse and didn't get all the way better but now I will have to call them to see if I can come). My wife is not real healthy and my inlaws are old.

However, God doesn't promise us a perfect life in this fallen world. Everyone dies. Most die later in life. Others die of many other things. My husband died at 41 of cancer. I am sorry to hear that. :(

Psalms 121
I will lift up my eyes to the mountains;
From where shall my help come?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth
.

so "not evolution"

3 He will not allow your foot to slip;
He who keeps you will not slumber.
4 Behold, He who keeps Israel
Will neither slumber nor sleep.

5 The Lord is your keeper;
The Lord is your shade on your right hand.
6 The sun will not smite you by day,
Nor the moon by night.
7 The Lord will protect you from all evil;
He will keep your soul.
8 The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in
From this time forth and forever.

2 Chron 7
12 Then the Lord appeared to Solomon at night and said to him, “I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice. 13 If I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among My people, 14 and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 15 Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to the prayer offered in this place.

1 John 3:4 "sin IS transgression of the Law"

1 John 5:2-3 "this IS the Love of God that we Keep His Commandments"

Rev 14:12 "the saints keep the Commandments of God AND their faith in Jesus"

Rebellion against the Word of God is not the right path for Christians. We must all choose repentance, confession "turning from their sin"

Indeed - notice how the facade of all the sports, parties, bars, etc even normal work routine has in many case come to a "stand still".

Time to "look up" -- your redemption draweth nigh.
Luke 21: 28 Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.

Different kinds of "ground" - Matthew 13

The seed sown is the word -
3 And He spoke many things to them in parables, saying, “Behold, the sower went out to sow; 4 and as he sowed, some seeds fell beside the road, and the birds came and ate them up.

5 Others fell on the rocky places, where they did not have much soil; and immediately they sprang up, because they had no depth of soil. 6 But when the sun had risen, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.

7 Others fell among the thorns, and the thorns came up and choked them out.

8 And others fell on the good soil and *yielded a crop, some a hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty. 9 He who has ears, let him hear.”

18 “Hear then the parable of the sower. 19 When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is the one on whom seed was sown beside the road.

Well I can say that I do not believe we are remotely close to the end. We as a civilization has been through so much worse and I became a bit paranoid and forgot to lean on Christ. I dare say we my all do that at times.

Well I can say that I do not believe we are remotely close to the end. .

interesting suggestion.

But might be a bit late for that.

#1. the Bible gives us a timeline telling us that what we are in is the "time of the End". Dan 8, Dan 12
#2. In Lev 18:25 gives us a list of things which end the probation for even a pagan nation. We keep "crossing those lines" even in America - as of late.
#3. Matt 24 says that when you "see all these signs" you know "that it is near". We have seen them.

In addition some things that "just so happen" along with Covid19

1. Plagues of "Biblical proportions" in Somalia and Pakistan - locusts plague over 100 miles wide.
2. Rev 16 "Euphrates River dried up" -- yep. Even though this is symbolic it "just so happens" that it is literally that way in the river basin at this moment for the Euphrates.
3. Rev 14 - the three angels messages currently being proclaimed all over the world.

and .. Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center

Well we will have to agree to disagree on that. :)

CDC states that this virus will spread to 70% of Americans -- that is 245 million in the US alone.
Current mortality rate is around 3% -- so that is 7.3 million death predicted over the next 2 years.

Q:What was the last war in all of US history where we lost 7 million?
A: Never happened.

Q: did we lose 7 million in 1918 with Spanish Flu?
A: 675,000 died in America with Spanish Flu 1918... not even 1 million
And that was 50 million that died world-wide in 1918.

If 70% of the 7 billion get this flu... then 4.9 billion will be infected over the next 2 years
So if the world wide number 3 % mortality - then that's 147 million world wide.

No wonder the nations are taking ever increasing drastic measures to address the crisis.

CDC reports that men in all categories are twice as likely to get this as women.

Because the virus has its purpose in God's plan.

We will all die, our biological bodies are not suitable to live forever. The age of 120 is somehow an upper limit and the vast majority of people will die much younger.

That has always been the case -- but Christ informs us in Matthew 24 that there are signs of the 2nd coming to know "when it is near... right at the door"

"33 so, you too, when you see all these things, recognize that He is near, right at the door."
