Battlezone 2 combat commander : No swearing, no gore, just all out adrenaline pumping fun. If you ever played "command & conquer" then this is kind of similar,only difference being that instead of a "top down" view you are actually in there from a first person perspective. Infact its the only first person realtime strategy game of its type. You have complete control of base building,resource management, and unit control. supports up to 8 players online with 2 teams of 4 players each. 1 commander on each team is responsible for building the base while the other 3 fight it out on the battlefield. The commander can pass on units to his wingmen in the field. Good pilot skills are essential as well as good strategy and re source management.
the game was released in 1999 but was ahead of its time because CPU,s couldnt handle the sheer amount of units (35 on each team) as well as late game full base build ( recycler,factory, armoury,service bay,relay bunker, technical centre, bomber bay and guntowers for base defense)
graphically its one of the most beutifull games to look at. There is a thriving community of players and developers one of which is the original proggramer who is currently working on a new patch which will support higher resolutions and improved options.
Ive played all the rest like Quake,UT2003,BF1942 etc etc etc. IMO nothing comes close to the sheer excitement of beating off an all out assault on your base to reply with a decisive and well thought out counter attack. To win you must take out the enemys recycler and factory. It can be found cheap for a few dollars or pounds online from amazon etc. i also have 6 or 7 copies which are free to good homes in the UK.
Would be nice to play this with some Chrstians online!
