Hehe, Im sorry. It is the ultimate question an atheist can ask himselves. It causes strain to push the button so why do it? There is no life after death så you cant blame yourselves at all, right?

I think you would probably have one second of total fear and horror, where there was a shock about what to do, but to be honest I think any person with any sense of emotion would choose to push that button, I would.

Me to... this only proves that how sure a man can be in his believ (athests seem to thing that they KNOW that they're right), noone is really sure (if not you have psychological issues as you said)

I think most people would push the button regardless of their belief/nonbelief in a deity.

It would not matter to me, as an atheist, whether or not I would die sooner or later. I would choose to save my children.

In such a specialized case, I would say there is only one reasonable answer: push the button. The outcome is preferable: only you die, instead of all of you die.

But such a question is not transferable to a general level. On this level, the problem would not be solvable, for everyone - including your loved family - would have such a button.

Selflessness can only be of value when there is someone selfish enough to accept it.
