  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

i just finished reading the foreplay before marriage posts.. very interesting and very good points are made. Reading those kinda sparked a question i've always had but never really asked anyone. Is there something that says how far is too far besides how one personally feels? I'm not sure if this should be in the strictly christian forums or not, but is there anything in the Bible that says what exactly we should and shouldn't do before marriage besides not having sex? i'd like to have more than just my moral guide lines really. I've been told not to portake in foreplay, but, couldn't that be anything? How do you distinguish the difference between the "right and wrong" things or what foreplay is or isnt? another question, foreplay could be said to be what you make it, like what personally leads one person to actually having sex...if this is true and it is what you make it,couldn't people say that they can do everything but sex and still not be portaking in foreplay?

* hope my question wasn't offensive.. just wondering

As far as definitions go, you're right. Foreplay is sexual stimulation which precedes intercourse. So if there's no intercourse, whatever happens isn't foreplay. Call it "petting" or whatever you like, but it's not actually foreplay. But I think in the other thread to which you refer, "foreplay" is used to mean "petting" which does not actually lead to intercourse.

Of course, "foreplay" isn't in the bible, so saying "I'm not having foreplay!" because sex never results doesn't get you off the hook. But neither is anything else (in terms of definitions of just what is and isn't allowed) in the bible (apart from the obvious "fornication"). I think most christians would say that if it leads you to have sex, or leads you to be tempted to do so, then it's probably best to stay away from it.

Of course, you don't want to hear this heathen atheist's opinion.

I agree with Bellman's post and no bellman I agree with Jodi that just because you're an atheist doesn't mean you are a heathen or even that you have no morals because that's just not the case. Whether we agree or not on a subject I do appreciate hearing your insight as well as anyone else's. That's why we're here. To discuss and perhaps be enlightened.

hey, thanks for your insight. just because you are an athiest i wouldn't consider you a heathen.. you need Christ just as much as me.. we're equal.. please continue to answer any questions i ever have.. i appreciate you taking the time.
Well...I appreciate the sentiment, so thank you...but, of course, being an atheist, I don't believe I (or anyone else) need Christ, or any other god anyone can come up with.

Simply, because I see no evidence one exists. For example, I see no more evidence for Yahweh or Jesus (as a god, not as a man who lived around Jerusalem 2K years ago) than I do for Zeus - and that is zero.

Apart from that...assuming I DID see evidence that Yahweh/Jesus existed, I would not see any evidence that I "need" him, since I find the christian myth of his behaviour absurd.
