Hi I'm a newbie :) Was wondering if you guys could help me. At my university there is a girl who is here from Israel, this girl keeps on going around and calling certain people "rugglers," she has also been going after people of jewish origin in particular and telling them that they have to decide whether or not they will "ruggle." It was my friends and I guess that this means something in Hebrew or Yiddish (?), was hoping that someone here could help me shed some light on the meaning of this word and it's origin. Thanks :)

Thank you for such a quick response Yafet! Intresting, I wonder why she is using this particular word...maybe a code for something(?), regardless, she refuses to tell us the meaning when we ask her, she only says, "It means whatever you want it to mean." Anyway thank you very much for this piece of information, it is very much appreciated.

If the girl is Israeli, I doubt she would be using Yiddish unless she's chassidic.

The term is indeed a Modern Hebrew slang term, used most often by youth. It's most often a person who is asking if you are a party person, a drug useing person, a sexually open person, etc, etc. It's open ended to mean just about anything and is most often based on context.

Given that it's a street slang term, you won't find it in any dictionaries. :|
