Your approach to interpreting the Bible is as if it is a Science textbook.

When we both should known that that's not the purpose of the writings which make up the scriptures.

The purpose of Scripture is to communicate God's love to humanity.

Well ... there's no question but that the passage which you cited was poetic.

The chief communication of the Bible is much more poetic ... than it is scientific ...

Fair enough; your choice. Yes the implications of the earth being flat are hard to fathom and has enormous implications, #1 being why are we being lied to but that's another subject. Hint: Satan is a deceiver and is the father of all lies. Thanks for the discussion.

Gravity, or what we call gravity, was here, always has been... you are right...

However, there was no need to investigate what the cause of this force was....until people were told that we live on a ball...

Think about it... people in the US and Australia are upside down to each other... how is that possible without some force to hold our feet to the ground... Or, hold the oceans to bend around the curve and stay in their banks and shores....

You didn't need any mysterious force of attraction, to the center of the mass... before it was a ball. Down... was just down. Everyone was standing the same way.. water just sat in it's place....

Enter the globe..... enter a necessity for a force to hold it all together.

And... things were heavier or lighter... before the theory of gravity.. and it only depends on gravity if you need to explain a globe model and why people don't fall off the bottom.... or which is the bottom...

So... gravity made the outside of the globe the top and the top is all around and we are all drawn to the center... Problem solved...

So, the sun stood still..= earth stopped rotating and
the Moon stood still..= the moon stopped orbiting, and spinning..

Two separate heavenly bodies that stopped.

Why not say... "and God Caused the earth to cease in it's rotation"?

Maybe because it would contradict the scripture that says that the earth is solid on it's foundations and cannot be moved?

The story is told ... of Sir Isaac Newton napping under an apple tree ... when an apple fell and hit him on the head. Happenings like these led to the initial study on the phenomenon of gravity ... long before we contemplated a spinning disk.
