So what would it cost Saddam to make this whole ugly mess go away?

Ahh, but there lies the rub. Money can't solve this one - there's too much history involved.

Saddam is already out in the cold, and the White House is committed to keeping him there. That's a fait accompli.

In any case, Papa Bush would put Dubya over his knee if he caught him with Iraqi cash. ;)

Like I said - whether you think the money's clean or not, the bottom line is that this is the worst possible time for such a transaction to occur, and any climate-savvy government should be capable of realising that. Unfortunately, some people just can't help themselves...

And of course, Giuliani's rejection casts a shadow over Bush's acceptance...

People want to believe in the goodness of man. However, God tells us that "the heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?"(Jeremiah 17:9). That is talking about everyone.

In the society that we live in, we have been lulled to sleep thinking that there is no such thing as real evil. Then 9/11 happens and everyone that believes that all people are warm and fuzzy have to scramble to justify why something like that can happen.

Also, it is not my job to go around judging people, but discernment-- Yes! Jesus told us to go and tell the world about him, people are losing their lives every day because they do not have a tenth of the freedom that we have in the USA. We need to stop pointing fingers and start allowing Christ to work through us to help others find him. We need to love our enemies, "but if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your tresspasses."(Matthew 6:15)

End Times alert :)

Evangelion and cenimo agree on something!

notto, money talks - and $500,000 talks pretty loud.

It happens in my country; it happens in your country; federal elections are full of it.

We all know that.

When a _ _ _ _ (whatever, fill in the blank) committs a crime, in no way, shape, or form should it be considered racism to say that the crime was committed by a _ _ _ _ . It si merely reporting the facts.

When our news media started calling the terrorists hijackers instead of terrorists, at that point something started going haywire. When a nation that is attacked and has over 2800 people die in a national, world recognized landmark starts worrying more about offending people that have a similar background as the attackers, something is horribly haywire.

Complete conjucture. How do you determine the nation cares more about not offending people than the attacks? How do you measure such a thing? I think it is just more prejudice.

From your posts it seems that you care more about generalizing others than the 2800 people killed. How does that strike you? Is that a fair interpretation of your intentions?

Something is horribly harwire when people kill themselves in order to kill others, period. How does offending people with a 'similar background' help matters?

BTW, we're all humans. We all have a 'similar background', and the world will never achieve peace unless we realize that.

Hector,

no problem, was just thinking out loud, throwing statements in the air

when I lived in Indianapolis the local NAACP said it was discrimination (the in word at the time, now racist) to report any suspect's race when broadcasting an APB...and wanted the poice to stop doing so...

A few thoughts...

Had it been an extreemist Christian that flew that plane into the building, you would all be shrugging this off as an issue of extreemism, you wouldn't note, other than for reporting purposes, if he was white or black. And you certainly would seperate yourself from him in any way you could. This issue has nothing to do with their religion, It has everything to do with the idea that Americans will frenzy at the opportunity to hate another group that stands out from their own.

This is all about money. They threatened our pocketbook and we cant stand it. It doesnt even have anything to do with "The human tragedy" of what hapended, our government doesnt care a bit about the people that died. Think about it, Drunk drivers killed 16,653 people in 2000 and nobody lifted a finger. We left it to the mourning mothers to deal with. (MADD)

If 2200 people are worth BILLIONS! in expendatures, then we should believe that as we sit typing on our computers, the goverment is planning a full scale military assault an taverns all across America, "To stomp out the tyrany of domestic drunken terrorism and secure liberty and the persuit of happiness for ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Whatever.

Regards,
Dave

There are the surviving family members of the victims of the flights, the WTC, and the Pentagon that would disagree with you.

Perhaps they would disagree in words and their feelings, but nations actions speak only of their personal loss and not their compassion for human life. If we as a nation were to act with such vigor over other domestic tragedy, this would be a far greater nation.

Don’t get me wrong, I mean no disrespect to those who have suffered a loss. I only mean to point out that we as a nation are a bunch of animals that are motivated by money and hate, and will grasp to support ideas of righteousness because it quenches a thirst that we cannot quench by other means. Even when those righteous ideas are in fact laden with revenge for financial loss.

We have real poverty in this country. Kids starving. Does the government launch a crusade to make the parents more productive? To provide skills and jobs for these folks? No, we give them welfare and make them dependant. We secure our power with that dependency (they vote) Or we let the private sector help. Id est, churches.

But is their any real effort to make this better? No.
Why? Because it works for everyone. (except the poor folks)

We could cite a mass of instances where there is no "real" effort to deal with human loss and suffering from our people by our government. But I would be hard pressed to find any instances where we spent billions on 2200 people.

Bottom line: It's all about money and hate. They want you to hate the other religion, because in doing so you will support them more. The more you support them, the more they can spend on their war (feeds their big business supporters) And the more you will like them for it. (and vote for them again)

My sincerest respect goes out to those who have felt a loss. To WTC, Pentagon, or Drunk driving.

Regards,
Dave

P.S.

If I could, I would take some of those billions and educate the heck out of our children. With an emphasis on History, Social Science and Political Science. So that 20 years from now they would be know that they were being bilked and manipulated by their government. And have the skills to stop it.

SerialCoder,

Our goverenment could(w/o a doubt) do a better job when it comes to dealing with problems.

However,I must state :

Many if those poor people stay poor due to *personal laziness*,in many cases its not us making the mistake, its them.
Granted, there is some social injustice involved but its definately not the main reason.
Do you know that some ppl make friends w/ a doctor and get the doc to label them: handicapped/disabled so they could collect disability benefits and such,so they don't have to work?

Our penality/regulation on drunk driving is w/ no doubt ridiculous.
More punishment needs to be invoked, much more!
ppl just get thrown in jail for a day or 2(if that) and just pay a fine(also just a mabye) and attened a minor rehab class(really just like watch a video) and DO IT AGAIN ,hahaha............

Lots of ppl take advantage of the system and we need to truncate(how should I say)so these ppl can get thier sorry acts together!

I think this "lienient effictive" system was done by the Liberals, yes the Democrats!

Its a good thing we had a Conservative/Rebublican in office during 9/11 or else we be shaking hind feet and kissing some ****!

I really don't know but I bet the crime and ill-advantage is always a bit higher when a Democrat is in office.

I know that much.

No where in the bible does it say its okay to murder people. It does in the Koran. Big difference.

Ahh..conspiricy theory at its finest.
