  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I'd like to ask all you christian evolutionists why you dont believe in evolution apart from God.

Not being a Christian, I'd like to take a whack at this one anyway:

They believe in evolution because the facts which support it, if written down, could fill the Grand Canyon.

They believe in God because, well, they're Christians.

Is there anything in this world that a Christian believes exists apart from God?

That is my problem with this. In Christianity, there is nothing that exists without God, the good, the bad, the pretty and the ugly, all exist due to God. If evolution occurred, then it is by God's will.

I'm not sure quite what you are asking.

If you are asking why don't I believe that evolution occurs apart from God's direct involvement, then you are mistaken. I do believe evolution occurs apart from any direct involvement with God.

If you are asking why I still believe in God if I believe in evolution, well, same reason I believe in both gravity and and the existence of China. The two are not mutually exclusive and I have evidence for each.

Do you believe evolutiion could have happened without God? If not, why?
What do you mean by "without God?" Do you mean "Can evolution occur without direct miraculous intervention?"
Then yes, but my computer also runs without direct miraculous intervention, children are conceived without direct miraculous intervention, a lot of God's universe runs without him having to fix it every five seconds.

Is that a problem for Christianity? No.

So you believe that the first human and everything in this universe could have evolved without the existence of God??

some believe that we are still in the sixth day, refered to as the day of man, and are still being created :) When the creating is over, God will rest on the seventh day since "it is finished" then. Interesting theory no doubt ^_^ God does say that we are a harvest.

I think God is good enough of a designer that he doesn't have to dip his hand in constantly.

Did you misunderstand my question? I don't know how to make myself any clearer. I'm asking a simple question. Do you believe in the possibility of creation without any intervention from God. Yes or No and if "NO" explain why

I don't believe in evolution with God, either.

I thought I had been clear, but I will make it clearer.

Yes. I do believe God set up a system where we could have evolved without His direct intervention. I would actually have serious doubts about the omnipotence and omniscience of God if He were unable to set up a suitably elegant system to not require direct intervention. It's like making a watch you have to correct the time on every two weeks. It's just poor design to have to get involved constantly.
