  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I like this question! The part where time stops is in chapter 18. Maybe time stopped because nature was suspended? Chapter 19 says "A virgin hath brought forth, which her nature alloweth not." Maybe it says that Jesus was not conceived in normal time and under normal conditions. That could be important for many reasons. Time is very important in scripture.

I had never heard of the Proto-Evangelium, so I went to New Advent dot Org to see it.

I agree, the Protoevangelium isn't Scripture. That doesn't make it worthless, however. It's worthwhile to inquire why the early Christians who composed it wrote what they did because it reveals the thoughts and ideas our forebearers had.

That said, I have nothing meaningful--unfortunately--to contribute as I've never read it in its entirety and am only vaguely familiar with it.

that Gospel was writen several centuries after Chrtist. It has not any athority or inspiration at all. It is a tale as Snow White.

Actually it was written about 125 AD. It is not part of the Bible so it is not inerrant or inspired by the Holy Spirit but it was written by a believer.

The apocrypha was written by brothers who lived much closer to the time of Jesus life than we do. Its a good thing to ask questions about what they wrote and to wonder about how they thought.

thanks. i understand most don't read/study apoc. or deuterocannonical books, twas just a question. as for the fairytale part, i was not looking for opinion on the bible cannon, just the book in question.
