So me and my friend were doing our Bible study last night, we started from the beginning, Genesis 1....v26 says "Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." And it says "let US", and "in OUR image, in OUR likeness..." is this meaning that someone else was there with God? Is this Jesus? I do remember reading in the proverbs where it says that Lady Wisdom was there from the beginning, applauding Gods creations....also the proverbs say to treat Brother knowledge as a friend and Lady Wisdom as a companion that they will be there for you when you need them.....soooo i'm just wondering what you all believe...is God speaking literally or what? Your opinions would be much appreciated :)

i just wanted to make sure i wasnt missing anything

We are missing a lot - don't close off on simplistic answers.

Was Jesus there at the beginning? Were you there at the beginning?

The Bible says much but I suspect that some of what is written is 'best guess' options.

yes i agree that we are missing alot, but not becuz we are supposed to. The bible says that God conceals alot from his sheep so that those who want to find the wisdom will seek and find it. So thats what i'm doing...i dont mean to be trivial, but i want to understand as much as i can, and God has blessed me with that want to keep it going...in our Bible Study, we go verse by verse and that one in particular we had no answer for, but i appreciate your opinion. :)

Check out the beginning of John 1:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Note the first phrase, that this "Word" existed in the beginning.
Second phrase "with God" suggests this "Word" is a separate entity from God.
Yet, the 3rd part also suggests while the "Word" is a separate entity, he and "God" are considered as one.

Many interpret the "Word" to being Christ, and is another indication how Jesus Christ can be both the Son of God and God at the same time.

Thanks!....i'll rephrase then lol "Wow, you are so blessed with Gods humble wisdom..." :) And i will definitely use you as a reference...since you offered, and its funny cuz i was praying for something along those lines...i do read the bible daily, and have found that i can read the same thing at different times, and the Holy Spirit will prick me with a new understanding...or i guess a more in depth understanding....so pretty much i guess i just have to keep on reading and God will deepen my wisdom as he sees fit....right?

The wisdom of YHWH is like a bottomless mine shaft. You can mine God's wisdom forever and you will never exhaust it. Every day YHWH wants to share something new with you as He gently kisses you with His knowledge and wisdom. He absolutely delights (doing cartwheels and sumersalts?!) over the fact that you hunger and thirst after Him.

Simonline.

I totally agree! Never quench that hunger, dear Sadiegrl! I am so blessed to see it in you!

BTW...that is one thing that excites me about Heaven...We will never stop learning and, in particular, we will never stop learning about God...

God has granted me a degree of spiritual insight and given me a passion to share what I know with the body of Christ for our mutual edification. Feel free to ask and I'll try and answer?

Yours in Christ.

Simonline.

Me, too?
