A question about hell and a question about heaven

Hello everyone, I have a couple of questions concerning the afterlife, once things are all sorted and everyone is either in heaven or hell.

1) If I recall the bible correctly, it said that sin would be done away with once things are 'finished'. So does it mean that us humans in hell no longer sin in our thoughts? Obviously we would still have our past sins on us but wouldn't the fact that we are no longer capable of sin make us similar to how Christ was?

2) What happens next once you Christians are in heaven? I mean what is the purpose for your existence and all?

Thanks for your time,

Daniel Oak.

Hello Daniel,

1) Hell will be a reality of sorts where people will realize their sins and probably be repentant, but it will be too late. I don't believe they will be sinning per se, because they'll be alone and isolated. God is going to destroy sin.

2) When believers in Christ are finally in Heaven, we will worship and praise God and the Lamb (Jesus). I believe that there will be work to do for God, but it won't feel like work, it will be in service to Him. We will be in the presence of other believers as we give glory and honor to God.

Hope this answers your questions. Keep seeking the Lord and may He richly bless you.

In Him,

WashedClean

Hi WashedClean, thanks for the quick reply.

1) Hell will be a reality of sorts where people will realize their sins and probably be repentant, but it will be too late. I don't believe they will be sinning per se, because they'll be alone and isolated. God is going to destroy sin.

If God destroys sin then those in hell will be sort of like how Christ was? So apart from their past sins wouldn't that make them sort of perfect?

2) When believers in Christ are finally in Heaven, we will worship and praise God and the Lamb (Jesus). I believe that there will be work to do for God, but it won't feel like work, it will be in service to Him. We will be in the presence of other believers as we give glory and honor to God.

Is the fundamental purpose of your existence to worship God?

Jesus life was a good example of the sinless life. He laughed, had fun, and loved everybody He met. Living a sinless life is not boring or impossible, as many might suppose, and helping the Lord make a new heavens and earth will certainly not be boring. The Bible says that we will know as we are known when we see the Lord and are transformed completely into His image, and be co-heirs with Him as brothers and sisters. Sounds exciting to me, and not like so many mistakingly think of just sitting on clouds with golden harps. The Bible tells us that we really can't take it all in with our present state of being and that it is beyond mere words in its glory.

1Co 2:9 That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him."

1: Read Revelations... I believe it's in chapter 20... about hades being thrown into the lake of fire. If you believe hell exists now... after what happens in revelation... it won't.

2: What's the point of life? To live. What do you mean? Chat with friends... make new ones... ask people questions... figure out new ones... figure out a way to travel to a distant galexy and go white water rafting on a planet you've never heard of... With an infinitely large universe, I'm sure you can find something to occupy your time.

Life is not about struggle.

learn to paint... learn to play the drums... play everquest for a while... write a song... write a movie... go to the movies...

I mean... asking what there is to do in heaven is like a caveman asking what there will be to do now... Heaven has stuff to do we could never imagine.

John 8:21
21Once more Jesus said to them, "I am going away, and you will look for me, and you will die in your sin. Where I go, you cannot come

This verse says people will die in their sin. I think this means forever. They will know God, for every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord, but they shall be forever in their sin.

In Heaven, we will glorify God. We were created to glorify God. We will also rule nations and judge angels.

Hello Daniel,

Personally, I believe hell simply means eternal death. The scriptures say God will destroy Satan and evil completely. How can hell exist without evil? There're many views about hell, unfortunately I cannot draw a conclusion.

Your 2nd question is what you should be concerned; our life-purpose is to enjoy the greatness of heaven. Our earthly life is a short journey we need to pass before we can enter into heaven and live eternally.

God bless.

one thing I'd like to point out is a few people have been saying in heaven we'd just sit there glorifying God all day... and I don't believe that's the case. Yes, we'll definitely have times to dedicate for glorifying him and whatnot... but I believe the best way to appriciate what God's done for us is to live. Not just sit in a pit all day singing to him.

In the garden of eden, the way God wanted the earth to be, God asked Adam and Eve to live... be happy, etc. Not just sit there and thank him and worship him all day. That's not honest. God asked them to live... to enjoy life... that's something to truely be thankful for, and therefore we will often thank him and praise him... but to say that 'we'll spend eternity glorifying God' makes it sound like we'll just be sitting there bowing for all eternity... which is, IMO, not what God designed us to do.

Christians don't just look forward to heaven. We anticipate the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ where all will be resurrected and judged. Those who believe will be given new bodies and live in the New Jerusalem. That is our hope, not just heaven.

Greetings
Those who die not asking Jesus Christ to Saved them are placed into what I call the Holding cell called Hell.

This place place called Hell burn it's people with fire 24-7-365 they are eaten day and night by worms crawling under there skins heated up to the tempature of the flames.

This were people go right now when they die without Jesus Christ as there Saviour, you would if you were to die, which you already know that.

The Lake of Fire is were all of those will go who do not receice the Forgiveness of there sins by Jesus Christ.

Everyone who goes here goes to court to be judged for all there bad thought, actions, secrets, hiddens sins, and on and on, your judgement will fit all your crimes.

How hot would it be for you in the Lake of fire if you got 1 degree for every cuss word alone, not counting all your other sins, rejecting Jesus Christ is accepting this and paying it for your self.

Think about it, there will be only pain after this life for you if you want it or you can be forgiven?

What would you choose if you had the choice?
you do you know.

He is Calling you to Choose.

I'm afraid your first question is beyond me - it's not something I've really looked into so I'm not going to kid myself and cheat you by trying to answer it.

However, I think the second one is more within my grasp.

2) What happens next once you Christians are in heaven? I mean what is the purpose for your existence and all?

I'm afraid I can't find any specific Bible passages about the point I want to make, but theres a lot about heaven in Thessalonians and Revelation 21 and 22 that you may want to take a glance over.

But on the point, what happens. Well, firstly, we're going to be spending an eternity in God's presence. Our new lives in heaven will be a living worship of God - what we do there will be our praise of God.

Also, God is going to give us Heavenly 'jobs'. How we act on earth, the work we do for him and how we follow him will determine what these jobs will be. I'm afraid I can't remember in the Bible this is said, but maybe someone else can help me out.

EDIT: I would also like to make a point about some other peoples posts about hell. Well, actually, I'd like to make my own point: Hell is the absence of God's presence. I wouldn't personally rely to much on what humans say is will be like, we cannot possibly imagine what life without God working in it would be. This graphic descriptions we hear are humans trying to convey what it will be like.
