Am I the only guy who doesn't mind being single on Valentine's? It's the easiest day of the year to find the single ladies

Does that mean I turn into a rabid monster every V-Day? Nope.

I dont turn into a rabid monster, i just see it every year and I hate it. I hate what it represents, the meanin of love is lost in the commercialism of it all.

Even if I wasnt single, I wouldnt be spending money, Id be makin a card that said Happy Valentines day I love you.

For some reason...I never felt deprived or upset when I didn't have a guy to celebrate Vday with. When I did see all the decorations though, it was usually along the lines of, "What the...We just celebrated Christmas yesterday...and they have Vday stuff up already?"

However, I also never hated single life...unless for a few days with long days of not in between. Dunno why...I think I like my independence and if I want a guy and there is a guy...then great.

I enjoy being single, I dont feel deprived, I just think valentines day is a load of bollocks.

Did you know that there are more suicides on Valentiens day then any other day of the year?

Just because someone else has commercialised it does not mean you have to take part in the commercialism.

Moreso, the fact that has been commercialised is a very petty reason for disregarding it.

I am sure even a "Happy Valentine's Day!" to a complete stranger will make them at least a little happy.

Isn't that a win, even in the smallest amount? Moreso, isn't that a good thing?

I am with you on this one. I actually dispise this week and day. And no don't feel sad for me or pity me.

It is rather asinine that they have put so much significance on one day to exress the love you are supposed to express daily to your loved ones.

The psyhologically attacks on thos who do not have a SO is wrong as well.

I do not believe in evil V-day but SAD...single awareness day. I will be at a party with 50 other awesome people having way too much fun.

I really find the argument that V-day is bad because you are supposed to show people you love them daily to be quite crappy.

Should we do away with Thanksgiving because we should give thanks every day? How about Christmas since we should celebrate JC's coming into this world every day since if he didn't he wouldn't have died for our sins? Or how about Mother's Day or Father's Day? We should show appreciation for our parental units on a daily basis, correct? So lets do away with those too!

Lets just do away with ALL the holidays since every day should be a celebration, right?

I find it quite amusing that on a "Christian" website, people have such a problem with V-day. There is nothing wrong with a day that celebrates LOVE.

I reiterate that there is absolutely nothing wrong with a day that may help keep lovers in love and perhaps strengthen a relationship and/or marriage.

I think those of you who have such a problem with V-day are just bitter and are masking it in different ways.

When I do have a SO on this day,I still hate it. I think it's just a money making scheme that plays on those who do not understand what love is really about.

As one of my favorite movie's expressed. love isn't about the romance and all that it goes with but it's the dealing wth a sick loved one, getting up with the kids when you are tired, doing the dishes for your loved one even when you are mad at them. It shouldn' be left to one day to strengthen a marrige or solve an issue in a relationship.

V-day will always be a day that will not have significance for me and I will not even push it and I haven't ever pushed it. It is far better having my SO brng my flowers out of the blue then doing it because it is expected for him to do it.

I think if you look at it that way then you have to look at Christmas the same way too. And any other day that has you spend money on others for a certain special occassion. I don't think that holidays are bad, and not even V-day. Yes, they are ALL commercialized but we can each celebrate it in our own way-we don't have to do it like others!

Although I have my reasons for not liking each, I do certain things that acknowledge them.
I like the chance to dress like I couldn't any other day, so I use Halloween. Valentines day I've expressed some creativity and care by making cards for everyone at work, its the combo of pink and red that drives me nuts. The origin is kind of interesting and when I've explained it to others, their mouths just drop and the flutter in their eyes dissappear.
