On genez saying that he is saving the best for the believers, isn't using the best evidence to convert nonbelievers more important than just reinforcing preexisting belief? I vaguely recall some analogy in the bible that compares preachers/religion to doctors. A doctor is there for the sick, not the healthy, and likewise "spreading god's word" is for the benefit of those who have not heard it, not those who already have. Not that I like to compare being atheist with having an illness, but the point is is that people who are already devoted Christians have no need for your "best", so why not tell those who aren't?

Plus, don't patronize us, not believing something is not the same as not understanding it. Likewise, believing something doesn't mean you necessarily understand it. If you got off your high horse you might realize that people are less likely to listen to what you have to say when you trample all over them.

Absolutely true. I find sarcasm to be useful when I deem the other poster is intentionally dodging the question or disingenuous in their responses.

We answer.. It gets ignored, or ridiculed... and you never learn anything. You never ask why. You only find reasons not to accept, or ridicule. And, then throw out another distortion so we can go fetch it like a dog does a bone.

The following applies to all atheists here.. There comes a point where we do not owe you anything. For you always go through the same motions of finding other things to divert to after rejecting what has been given you... There comes a point. Just like dying. There comes a point when it stops.

I do not reject, as I have said before, my atheism gives me only despair and sadness, for to me, those people who I loved who have died are gone forever, despite being good people, and that no matter what is done in this life, there is a good chance that existence stops no matter who you are.

Who in their right mind WANTS to believe that? Who wants to believe oblivion is in their future? No one wants that. But belief is not always about what you want.

I can only surmise it's because they haven't subjected the litmus test to their own beliefs, and they they fail to keep in mind that most atheists here on CF used to be bible thumpers too.
