It is hard for me to imagine a hell as a physical pit in the center of the earth, but it is true, because the Bible is true.

At the center of the earth is not biblical, just conjecture.

Matthew 11:23 You won't be lifted up to heaven, will you? You'll go down to Hell! ... And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted to heaven? No, you will go down to hell!

"Down" to hell here is used, not as a google-map instruction, it is used as a contrast to "headed for Heaven".

It stems from ANE cosmology.

Heaven is UP, hell is DOWN.

It does not say "center" of the earth. Simply, below the earth.

I believe that your adding to the Word of God has gotten you into unnecessary trouble on this one. You could have avoided if you did not add to what it says.

We should only get into trouble for what it does say! :)

Yeah, if you are going to be a fundamentalist, you might as well preach only what the bible actually says. Since it is kind of the point of being a fundamentalist.

Dear Readers, The word earth in Hebrew means ground. In the beginning God created the heaven (air) and the earth (ground). Jesus used these two creation elements and made EVERYthing which exists physically. Water came from the air and Jesus added Life to form living physical creatures.

Jesus took some of the air, dust, and water and inflated it at the Big Bang and made our Cosmos and the other worlds. Some of it was used to make Adam's world too. Perhaps Hell is in the first ground created. These verses are speaking of Jesus:

Eph 4:9 (Now that He ascended, what is it but that He also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? Eph 4:10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that He might fill all things.)

Jesus made several heavens and this verse tells us that Jesus ascended above ALL of them. He also made Adam's earth, the present earth, and the new earth of Rev. 21:1 He could also have descended into the first ground which He used to make everything else, in the beginning.

This could mean that Hell is NOT on our Earth, but in the earth or ground made in the beginning. Genesis 1:1 Soon, Jesus will return and explain, since the Bible IS God's Truth. Jhn 17:17 God Bless you.

In Love,
Aman

You do agree though that hell is not a physical place currently beneath our feet right? Or at the very least it isn't physical in a way that people could actually go there while alive by drilling a deep enough hole in the ground?

I suppose. Then again, it is kinda god's fault for making sins, (particularly lust and sloth) more pleasant than their virtuous counterparts.

Are you saying that from personal experience? :)

Virtue that brings inner peace comes from the enabling power of God's grace.. You are not qualified at this time to speak on the matter with authority. Attempted virtue without grace is merely legalism.

Philippians 4:7
...
and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding,
will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Nothing man can do, nor make to take, can produce what discovering salvation will. Nothing. Men try anyway... For they sense they need something that's missing.

Meh, I suppose my sin is sloth, but I never allow myself not to get work done.

Procrastination is the sensation of no motivation for anything but recreation but is hardly a sin in moderation with contemplation about the situation.

I love words...

There are more verses to hint towards the direction of hell besides 'down";

Numbers 16:33 So they and all that belonged to them went down alive into Sheol, and the earth closed over them, and they perished from the midst of the assembly.

Job 17:16 Will it go down to the bars of Sheol? Shall we descend together into the dust?”

Other verses say it is in the grave where we are buried.

BUT, there have been people who died and came back to life. They saw hell and saw that it was deep in the earth. It is another source I use from honest, folks, many not even christian when they died. But what they saw, sure as heck changed their lives!!

Yes maybe, granted! But I'm also using witness expériences. But true, I might have added too much by using my sources.

Couldn't it be that hell looks underground so they assumed it was under the earth?

We talked about it a few weeks back. Did you ever check out Ireneaus on creation, because his view pretty much addresses this.

Honestly, I almost never look at links people post. I just don't have the time nor the patience to read most of them, and the slight interest I have as an intellectual about generally everything isn't even close to strong enough to inspire me to overcome my ADHD and read it.

Even so, I understand that evil does play a necessary role in our lives on multiple levels, I just want people to acknowledge that at some point along the line god created at least 1 thing that was evil if not more than one directly.
