Here is a poem I wrote, inspired by Pedro Calderon (1600-1681) and his poem named "The Cross"
The Cross
88Devin07
Xulon, stake that sits upon the rock.
Disrupted by sin and sinew.
Whips and rope tied up in knots.
Of new covenant washes anew.
Hands upon patibulum tied so tight.
And nailed down to splinters and pain.
From Eden and Eridu and the sinful Cain,
To Romans and Priests the newest plight.
Upon God was such a burden put.
But with his pain, brought salvation anew.
He rose from the cross and turned darkness to light.
Among his people, they did not know,
That they were being cast from the darkness of night.
God spread his arms because he loves us so much.
And thus died, and gave his son up,
Because he loves us so much.
