  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Mothers father worked as a carpenter. On this particular day, he was building some crates for the clothes his church was sending to some rphanage in China.

On his way home, he reached into his shirt pocket to find his glasses, but they were gone. When he mentally replayed his earlier actions, he realized what happened; the glasses had slipped out of his pocket unnoticed and fallen into one of the crates, which he had nailed shut.

His brand new glasses were heading for China!

The Great Depression was at it's height and Grandpa had six children. He had spent $20 for those glasses that very morning. He was upset by the thought of having to buy another pair. "It's not fair," he told God as he drove home in frustration. "I've been very faithful in giving of my time and money to your work, an now this."

Several months later, the director of the orphanage was on furlough in the United States. He wanted to visit all the churches that supported him in China, so he came to speak one Sunday at my grandfather's small church in Chicago. The missionary began by thanking the people for their faithfulness in supporting the orphanage. "But most of all," he said, "I must thank you for the glasses you sent last year. You see, the Communists had just swept through the orphanage, destroying everything, including my glasses. I was desperate. Even if I had the money, there was simply no way of replacing those glasses. Along with not being able to see well, I experienced headaches every day, so my coworkers and I were much in prayer about this. Then your crates arrived. When my staff removed the covers, they found a pair of glasses lying on top.

The missionary paused long enough to let his words sink in. Then, still gripped with the wonder of it all, he continued: "Folks, when I tried on the glasses, it was as though they had been custom-made just for me! I want to thank you for being a part of that."

The people listened, happy for the miraculous glasses. But the missionary surely must have confused their church with another, they thought. There were no glasses on their list of items to be sent overseas. But sitting quietly in the back, with tears streaming down his face, an ordinary carpenter realized the Master Carpenter had used him in an extraordinary way.

Karen,

This story also reminded me that God does turn all things to the good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose!

So many times in my life things similar to this have happened to me or someone I know.

Not long ago, my husband who never seems to misplace anything lost his wallet just before coming home from work. He works at a Wal-Mart super store and it is a huge place.

He called me shortly before he came home and told me about it and asked me to call and notify the bank on his ATM etc. However, I stopped to pray first that someone would turn it in as he had so much ID in it that would be a major headache to replace.

Before Michael even arrived home a call came in which I wasn't able to answer. The message that was left informed us that the caller was a man named Charles and he apologized for going through the wallet but wanted to find some information so he could return it. He commented that he felt the owner much be a Christian because of some of the contents of the wallet. He said he lived on the other side of town but was going to church that night near to us and if we would call he would arrange to drop it off.

Michael and I were thanking God and decided that we would meet this man at his church. Michael called him and got directions and we decided to stay for the service but agreed that we would meet him out front before the service began.

We dressed and went to the church and while we were waiting decided that if Charles would not be offened we would bless him for his honesty and give him 20.00. Now that 20.00 was ALL that we had until pay day which was almost two weeks away...but no matter, we believed this to be what God wanted.

When Charles approached us...low and behold I knew him from where I used to work. This man had always been such a blessing and a witness for Jesus. He was always positive and caring and a good worker. He always made me smile.

Michael offered him the money and he was hesitant to accept, but said ok.
As we went to sit down and wait for the service to begin, Charles told us that he had been sick...seriously sick...for several months and he had been believing God for a certian amount of money he needed to put with what he had to pay a bill. Well...I bet you can just guess what that sum was! That's right...the 20 dollars! We all had tears in our eyes knowing that God had used Michael losing his wallet to bless not only Charles but us also. The service that night was really great!

Yup...it's true, God does turn all things to the good for those who love him and are called according to his purposes!

God is the BESTEST!:)
