*IN RED ABOVE*Clearly you haven't read the book of Revelation. That entire book is a revelation given to John by Jesus Himself and it is VERY COMPLICATED.
I am not asking you to agree with me, and again *IN BLUE ABOVE*That is precisely what I said in my OP and subsequent replies. Only those who are trying to find some very hidden meaning in it are hard to understand.
I didn't say that you have posted "Don't read your Bible" but rather you emphasize the revelatory Word over the Written word. Me and you have discussed that several times here.
This OP, in closing, is exactly for the purpose you stated as highlighted in blue above. Very plain and if it's complicated it's because we have minds of flesh and not spiritually trained ones (1 Corinthians 2:6-16)
May we all receive greater understanding of the things of the Spirit...
"revelatory Word over the Written word?"
The above shows my point.
We have scriptures, which are writings meant to point us to Jesus Christ
Jn 5:46,47 For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me, for he wrote about Me. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe Me words.
Moses wrote Scriptures - or as many like to say - the Written Word. The purpose Moses had for writing, as can clearly be seen in the above verse, was to point you to Jesus Christ, or as you wrote - the revelatory Word.
Now are you going to put Moses writings above Jesus Christ? That is what you just said you do!
The book of Revelation, is a book that reveals Jesus Christ to us. That is the purpose of that book. We see in the book of Revelation, which John wrote to gives us a revelation of Jesus Christ (the revelatory Word) as you like to call Him.
John wrote: He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.
So my friend, the "revelatory Word" is the Lord and King Jesus Christ. And He is revealed in Revelation. So clearly if you have read Revelation, you missed that it's purpose was to reveal Jesus Christ.
Now it is not that what Moses wrote is wrong. However you don't put what someone wrote about the King above the King. Yet you are trying to reprove me for putting the Lord above the writings. Isn't that because you have put the writing above the Lord?
When we put an inanimate object above God, we call that idolatry. People can make an idol out of the Bible. Of course there are no such things as idols here on earth. So it is not that the Holy Writ (Holy Scriptures) are not right, but we are wrong if we did not come to understand their purpose was to lead us to the Lord Jesus Christ, and relied upon our understanding of the "Written Word" instead of the revealed Word of God (Jesus Christ) for understanding.
Jesus Christ said He and the Father would live in us, and He sent the Spirit of God who speaks only what He hears and not on His own initative. So we are able to hear from the Lord Jesus Christ via the Spirit. So, it is that same Spirit which has the correct interpretation. And the Spirit of God can make things simply (including the book of Revelation).
Now we are never going to know the depts of God. We don't have that ability. However we can get to know God. The Spirit is not the only spirit, so we need to test the spirits. And knowing the Scriptures (what others who knew God wrote about God) certainly help. But the Scriptures (that is your understanding) is never to be placed above God (the revelatory Word) as you like to call Him.
My friend, when you listen to the small voice of the Lord, it is the Lord Jesus Christ speaking to you via the Spirit (unless it is another spirit - so test the spirits). And if God, He is above the writings, just like He is above all things. His interpretation is above your (and any other persons) interpretation. And He makes things simple!! That is, He gives us understanding. And the real understanding that He is trying to gives us is that He is God and is control.
This "revelatory Word" as you call the small voice of the Lord, is God!
He is the "King of kings", as is revealed in Revelation. And He is the first and last, the I Am, and the One on the throne. Things will happen according to His will. That is what the author's of the Written Word (like Moses and John) were trying to explain to you. So we need to concern ourselves with listening to Him, and let Him explain the Bible to us (along with everythings else) and quite putting our understanding of the Scriptures above Him.
When we put our understanding above Him, our writings point to us or to the book instead of Him, simply because we based our writing on us or the book, instead of Him. The writing them become complicated, or puffed up. It's not that we shouldn't fellowship and discuss things with others, but if we notice our writings are puffed up, then isn't it a sign to us that we are not listening to Him like we should? Well - we all have that problem.
And what if we find that we are writing others and telling them to put the Scriptures above God? Have we been making an idol out of the Scriptures? We need to test the spirits, and we need to study the Scriptures, but never you we suggest that the Scriptures are to be put above God! That means we are making an idol of them.
