• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I have aspergers syndrom and part of it is depression and anxiety. I have OCD so I obsess about whether I did something wrong or not. Something that has been helping me has been an adult pacifier/soother and stuffed animal.
.
Am I the only one in the Christian community? Surely not.

Do you mean like an actual...baby pacifier?
..

I'm 24 so no... But I have been thinking of getting a stuffed toy ,probably small( to hide the shame lol) to sleep with..

And dabbing a calming ,relaxing scent like chamomile on it to lull me to sleep..

I also have anxiety..

As long as you aren't hurting anyone...do what you makes you feel ok.

Hello there. Sometimes you just gotta try anything that's not malignant, to help get through. Nothing wrong with that.
Hugging a pillow at night works for me sometimes.

Blessings y'all

Sometimes I sleep with a little stuffed animal during my most painful moments. But I usually hold on to my rosary beads and I sleep with my Bible beside me on the bed. I also have a noise machine that helps.

Do whatever helps you. Sleep is imperative. You're not hurting anyone and there are worse things one can do to try and sleep. May the Lord bring you the peace you seek.

On an especially difficult day, I sleep with a pink stuffed rabbit I've had since I was a baby. My husband knows if he sees the bunny something is dreadfully wrong. We all need comfort sometimes, and different things bring comfort to different people.

If anyone is wondering if a stuffed animal would help, stop wondering and get one! There's nothing wrong with it! Get one you love, if possible. You can even consider him your friend if you want. God loves you and is always with you, but he is not cuddly. Let your stuffed animal remind you that God loves you. The Lord has helped me a lot because of my cat (which I love).

I take a nap every day, and always feel good (or at least better) afterward. On the worst days I take two naps, and have upon occasion taken three. On those days I don't have trouble falling asleep; my depressive episodes contribute to tiredness.
