A Newbie Thread

Hi guys, i have been soaking up your valuable quotes, the simplest things can be the most helpful.

i have been struggling with my social life, most of my freinds like to drink so i have stopped seeing them. Last week my work held a dinner that was run by a company called Host a Murder and it was great no alcohol and we got to dress up and play characters, i thought this is a great thing for us, it is so hard to go out with out alcohol around, so i just thought i would share a little solution that i have found, hope this helps anyone with the same problems.

Seeds grow in a plain but not among rocks. So, also wisdom flourishes in the heart of a humble man but not in the heart of the proud. Do you not see how the man who flaunts his head to the ceiling will dash it, while he who lowers his head shelters and protects it?

Hi Hillclimber - Just reading over your post and felt an empathy with you. It certainly seems a shame to have to pull back from your friends who use alcohol. I myself have 21 years of recovery from an A&D addiction and early days one of my best friends was quite upset with me as we were drinking buddies. However over time he came to respect my stand and refrained from using drugs or alcohol when he saw me and we renewed our friendship for many years. I have since moved away from that town and have decided to renew old friendships with some Christian friends and make new ones too through this forum. I am enjoying being with people who wish to develop their relationship and understanding of God. People who try to make other peoples lives just that little bit more challenging, caring, interesting and joyful, peaceful and above all - Love full! People like you my friend. Years ago Christian people who cared for me made little changes in my life and then God instrumented huge changes!
I am richly blessed and now all the more for meeting you.

Thank you guys for your lovely welcome I am 56 yrs young. So I am qualified although still a lot of wising up to do. lol.

In a lot of ways I realise that life is just beginning, a whole bunch of things to do and learn, just when I think i've wised up about life and got it all sorted in my head, I get smacked in the face.
