• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

 • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
 • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Now I sit me down in school
Where praying aloud is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.

If Scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal issue now.

Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That's no offense; it's a freedom scene.
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.

For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all.
In silence alone we must meditate,
God's name is prohibited by the state.

We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks..
They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.

We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King.
It's 'inappropriate' to teach right from wrong,
We're taught that such 'judgments' do not belong.

We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles.
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.

Its scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school's a mess.
So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot; My soul please take!

Amen

Jesus said,
“If you are ashamed of me,
I will be ashamed of you before my Father.”

Praying silently to themselves is perfectly legal.

If Scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal issue now.
That is a violation of the establishment clause.

And colored hair is a problem why? My gf has purple hair and I love it.

Might offend someone with no faith at all.

Keep it to themselves or before and after school and all is well

Rebellion is necessary for healthy intellectual and emotional progress.

Again it is each students individual choice.

Umm ok

Umm ok

And it is not healthy rebellion to pray and read the Bible aloud in public school? Umm ok...

Maranatha.

Oh, and the truth in your post is reality.

Just so we're clear, you'd have absolutely 100% no problem if I lead your children in, say, a Muslim prayer or a Jewish prayer in the classroom?

It is healthy to rebel against authority and their parents. Reading the bible aloud would be condoning one religion over others which is in direct violation of the establishment clause.

Not as long as "I" was allowed to challenge the theology of them.

What do you know, a suggestion for a "free exchange" of ideas. And I thought that was illegal now. Be careful BW.

Ideas are not in any way factual without empirical data and religion has none.

I'm all for a free exchange, as long as all parties can debate openly and are not forced to debate with one arm behind their back. This should be done in some sort of comparative religion class, as it doesn't seem to fit into geometry that well.

Rome never existed? The universe is an accident caused by other accidents bumping into other accidents in complete darkness?

Go figure.

Hysteria and censorship isn't making your points look sound Ophi.

Geometry?

Pure religion.

Let's go with that debate in the public school room. I'll even go with both arms tied behind my back.

Geometry is not pure religion. Nor is algebra or chemistry or even history. It is only religion if YOU insert God into everything, which is not a factual insertion but your own religious one.

So by your logic the Grapes Of wrath is not fiction because Monterey Ca actually exists, that is not logical.

Well, let's simply say that when I was in school and the English Lit. teacher wanted us to read this text or that ---- a list was given to us to take home to our parents, and if they objected then that student was allowed to pick another text...

But the reality is that most Jews, Christians and Muslims already read various portions of the Bible. If they found no fault with that for 150 years, I see no reason that they would have an issue with it today, if handled with honesty and care.

It is the politicians that ruined education and not the parents...

So I can lead your children in a Jewish or Muslim prayer then?

How about I lead them in several passages of the Quran or the Book of Mormon? This is also alright?

Ooo, nice spin. The Grape of Wrath was not written as a real actual event. The New Testament was.

Nice dodge of my other coments.

I'm digging this man.

You have no way of knowing why the new testament was written of if those even had a reason for doing so other than controlling the ignorant masses of the time.

Says who?

My vote is the equal of any other and I say it does.

And so does the First Amendment. In fact, no one can stop it. According TO the First Amendment.

Read it and see.

Now we're rocking pal.

I'm in my element baby!

And I do like snakes. You know that right?
