A New Ministry

Beginning a few years ago, I first began to take an interest in doctrine. Throughout most of my life I was largely unconcerned with religion (though I would always call myself a Christian and argue frantically that the Earth was young). Since I began to study doctrine and also philosophy, I have noticed a terrible thing in modern Christianity.

To be blunt, the church is ignorant. Most American Christians have no knowledge of theology, and what little knowledge they do have is either overly dogmatic eschatology or erroneous teaching long refuted by thinking Christians.

The Lord has in the last month or so put it on my heart to play an active role is spreading sound Christian theology using the internet as a platform. I've played with the idea, and even started up a phpBB forum and played with the interface a bit to see how difficult it is.

Through recent experience, I have decided that this hypothetical ministry is more needed now than ever, and I have resolved to begin construction of a website and writing of discipleship curricula to be used in church membership classes.

I'd like to ask your prayers as I get to work on these things. Also, if anyone would be interested in contributing information or writing for this ministry (money is not an issue right now, I have that covered), I would welcome the assistance.

Yeah, I'm going to Biola University this fall, so some of those authors will probably be my professors. I would like this ministry of mine to be a consolidation of what information I can gather in internet course format so that any believer can participate in discussion and education free of charge.

Great reading list, rmwilliamsII. Have you read Total Truth, by Nancy Pearcy? It is subtitled, "Liberating Christianity from it's Cultural Captivity". She studied at L'Arbri (Frances Schaeffer).
