In the first covenant it is impossible to tell the difference between right and wrong.
That is why before the coming of the Messiah, it is told the Messiah discerns between those who serve God and those who serve Him not, which is the righteous and the wicked.
Malachi 3:18 Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.
The lack of discernment in Israel is why Israel did not put difference between the unclean and the clean, and how Israel profaned God through profaning His sabbaths..
Ezekiel 22:26 Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.
It is clear the men of this world have no discernment, because that requires wisdom, and to have wisdom is to have the Spirit of the fear of the Lord ( that Spirit is Christ) and the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom ( discernment)
Jonah 4:11 And should not I spare Nineveh, that great city, wherein are more than sixscore thousand persons that cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand; and also much cattle?
Ecclesiastes 8:5 Whoso keepeth the commandment shall feel no evil thing: and a wise man's heart discerneth both time and judgment.
Isaiah 11:2 And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;
There is very little scripture regarding discernment.
Now we go to the new testament.
God takes away the old testament ( which was complete lack of discernment due to no Spirit of the fear of the Lord in anyone in Israel, or the whole world)
Now we understand it is the living Word ( Christ risen from the dead) that is the discerner of the thoughts and intentions of the heart, as God knows what is the mind of the Spirit..
1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
Hebrews 10:9 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Romans 8:27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
The natural man is the man of the old testament, ( all men of Israel) who lack understanding, and that was proven by all the testimonies of God about them, such as they did not discern between the unclean and the clean....
1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
Hebrews 5:14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
To think that holiness is in keeping sabbath, then is not discerning the Lords Holiness, as that is the sanctification which is in Christ.
Also the rest that is the Lords, is entered into, it is everlasting, it is eternal life, it is Christ entering into His glory. That is to be laboured in by faith in Christ, to enter in the same way, where holiness is in Christ, and not in the lack of understanding of natural man ( the Jews of Israel in the law as demonstrated and testified to the world)
Neither is cleanliness in the circumcision of the flesh, as nothing in the flesh is cleanliness.
Cleanliness is entirely in the Spirit of Christ. The circumcision of Christ is hardly believed in by those who believe in the circumcision of the flesh.
Hating your enemy, eye for eye tooth for tooth, are in base man, natural man, who cannot believe in the harmlessness of Christ that way.
To only see earthly, that animals are unclean, is to not know in the Spirit, it is man that is unclean, and needed to be cleaned by the cleansing blood of Christ, then all is purified ( their conscience not cleansed is what prevents them discerning how God has cleansed the Gentiles and all creatures)
A mans life consists not in what he possesses, Jesus taught this, but Israel believed, and believes that it does, this is the lack of discernment, that to have treasure in Heaven you must give your treasure you trust in and hold, away...
Even thought Jews, Messianists, SDA deny it, circumcision was part of the law, and now that part is obselete..
1 Corinthians 1:29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.
30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
31 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
Romans 2:29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
Philippians 3:3 For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.
Colossians 2:11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
Galatians 5:2 Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.
3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.
4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.
5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
So even though somehow these people who teach law, insist the law is unchanged, it is entirely gone away and vanished.
What has vanished is all the ways the people did, as all was without discernment, all was without Christs Holy Spirit, all was without goodness, kindness, mercy, love.
All was for pride, all was for exaltation, now all is hidden and is by meekness. It cant be the same, as the same encouraged all of the things that Israel did, and now it is all incorrect.
The difference is discernment, written in the heart, the law cant be the same law as written on tables of stone, or it would be tables of stone in our heart, which it is not.
Remember and we will not forget, He takes away the first ) heart of stone and tables of stone) to establish the second( heart of flesh)
All the ways are changed, all the previous ones were of stone, they cannot subsist any longer.
Deuteronomy 4:13 And he declared unto you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, even ten commandments; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone.
Ezekiel 36:26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
2 Corinthians 3:3 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.
Hebrews 8:13 In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.
