A new CF, an old vision

do you even realize that the people who gave themselves to CF are literally crying right now? Being on staff isn't just a title! It's being part of a family! You're breaking up families and friendships! It goes deeper than the red "M" next to my name!

Staff is contantly changing, they come and go. I think the important part of the 'family' is the general membership.

Ahh so things are about the same as usual, except this time around it's the people who are usually unhappy, are now happy and the people who are typically happy now unhappy?

A few thoughts from this newbie:

This place is a home, and as family members, we will not always agree. BUT we are still family. Love each other.

Some folks like to live in the past. Let's focus on the future. Together we can all make this a place where Erwin can be proud of the members' Christian behavior. Love each other.

There are no cheese doodles in the Special items-Menu Shop. This is not due to a lack of love for cheese doodles. Share the doodles. Let's see how many of you get orange fingers.

I FEAR CHANGE
I always have but change is often good growth is change. Will there be problems with the new growth? well duh! but there will be opportunities for us all to step up and make this a better place.I suggest the first thing we all do is stop and pray. Then pray some more perhaps prayer and fasting or whatever way you each come closest to God pray for the site and for a vision of your role in it. how many of you have spent more time responding to the forum than praying about the forum since you got the news? shame on us. I need to go pray now.

A number of concerns...

1) Voted mods. I see issues with this because this could allow for something like all the mods having one point of view which would pave the way for discrimination and favoritism.

2) Complete openness. Call me a bit selfish if you want, but really, there are only two places where I can really relax on this whole site. One is Tetris the other is TAW. This opens the gate for people to come in and insult Orthodox (same applies to other faiths). I also can see massive debates going on between Christians and Atheists; Muslims and Christians and so on and so forth.

3) No definition of Christian. The Nicene Creed and Trinity doctrine are the only things holding keeping all the denominations and Churches from killing each other. These two seemingly useless documents of faith have kept Christianity together since 325! Why the dumping? They defined what a Christian was then and define it today.

I'm sorry, but I can just see this whole place becoming a pit of anarchy and overall evil.

This is entirely untrue. I have never considered myself more than a servant of the members here. What I am upset about is that there are many of us who have worked very hard to serve the members here and are being told that now we have to go through a popularity contest if we want to continue to do so. Oh and not even a thank you.

With this forum, you have to be a grateful servant, even if you work your tail off, get nailed to a cross, and none of your friends stay with you.

It's called being a Christian.

Look folks,

As a Quaker I can tell you that discussion in the Society of Friends is ... Robust! That does not mean that there is not control of it BUT THAT THE CONTROL is gentle and based on the belief that all human beings share the divine light.

If we treat each other robustly but with respect and joy this new CF will work well. If we decide before it has even started that it is terrible then it simply will not work for anyone.

How about we trust God to be in the workings?
