We should pray that everything goes well and know that God is in control. Of course there will be problems to overcome, but I think a lot of good will come out of these changes.

My thoughts on congregational forums--these should remain, btw, I think they are a great resource about various Christian traditions and also wonderful communities

* Debate in Congregational Forums should be restricted to those topics which are *controversial within that denomination* and that posts should be moderated with the view that this place is not a place to argue core beliefs but rather the particular lounge or parlor of a particular group who, while remaining hospitable, need to insist upon being respected in their own home. The remedy would be to move threads to a more appropriate place rather than warning/infracting/banning the member.

Do remember there will probably be non-Christian mods.

I certainly hope non-Christian mods would be respectful towards Christians though, and would be counseled and/or removed if not.

Well, as a former conciliator, I would say don't worry. Whether with a job or not on here, what's more important, having that or being a part of the change no matter your status? I have more hope now that members are going to have a better chance to have a voice in the changes being made. To bring about that hope was the main reason I accepted becoming a conciliator in the first place. If the changes bring this about, then I'll be much more happy to be back among the ranks of a plain old member knowing that what I had hoped to bring about as a conciliator is coming about, and hopefully soon. Yet, in both taking the hemlock philosophically, and taking the cup in Christian terms, I now see my no longer being a conciliator a small thing in the long run with the new hope found in these changes. Sacrifice is just a part of the 'job' when one thinks of it that way.

Sorry, for the misunderstanding ....

There was no porn in the staff room.

The big trouble was that the porn was only soft deleted and some male mods said that they did view it as they were tempted by it.

They finally had to leave CF staff because they just could not overcome the temptation. These were excellent mods too.

It cannot be anything more than a popularity contest. Those of us who have worked diligently to keep the rules adhered to will be the least popular.

There are many mods here that are doing an awesome job. I have not met any that are not.

Sadly the most diligent and hard working mods and the ones that care most for this forum will be the firsts to go because modding isn't always a pretty job.

I agree. There is a difference in legalistic moderation and those who are doing their jobs. Most people who have been here any length of time know who is who. We want to keep the mods who are fair and unbiased. We will LOVE to be able to get rid of the power-tripping ones.

I think that those who wish to serve will do so willingly and with great vigor....for acts of kindness and promoting gratitude and helping those invest their energy in understanding others are recognized by Christians and non-Christians alike!!
