A new CF, an old vision

I hope we atheists can behave ourselves.

As much as I disagree with Christian theology, I respect the right of Christians to have a place where they can go to discuss issues amongst each other without having every thread devolve into an attempt to prove to an atheist that God really exists.

I know I will try to be respectful of theads where it is apparent that an atheist's perspective is neither sought nor appreciated. I hope my fellow atheists will do the same.

There is no way to prevent it from being a popularity contest. That is exactly what it seems it will be. Additionally whoever has the greatest number will make the rules.

I hope that Erwin will enable Admins to hard delete and dispose of all threads and posts that should not see the light of day again. People's lives can be absolutely ruined unless this is done. Porn especially can destroy people due to their addictions.

If these things are for real, I'm very disappointed to learn of this and applaud even more Erwin's decision to do away with separate forums for mods and inappropriate threads.

WOW - I had left staff after one month because the staff forums and staff politics disgusted me so.
So much gossip about members - I agree all those forums needs to be done away with.
What members did (or did not do) in the past is just that - the past.
It should be totally forgiven and forgotten. That is God's way.

I would guess from this that current staff remain on staff until the time comes for the moderator voting. So I don't think you've been canned

Feh, wasn't like the "safe" places were all that safe. They had their own problems, such as isolation and becoming desolate as one group began controlling things with an iron fist about who had the right to be there. I'm sorry, but being a Christian is not about being an elitist, IMHO

It cannot be anything more than a popularity contest. Those of us who have worked diligently to keep the rules adhered to will be the least popular.

There are many mods here that are doing an awesome job. I have not met any that are not.

Actually I suspect most mods who have been diligently striving to serve CF will not be nominated because they have been doing their job and have become unpopular.

NO

But porn is in the trash bins and it can be read if a mod undoes the soft delete. Porn is also left in some open threads, since once it is soft deleted, it is no longer viewable by members or staff. But staff did have the power to view soft deleted items when I was a mod a year ago.

Is the soft delete feature still the rule at CF?

Can Admins hard delete offensive posts and hard porn?

Exactly. We take a lot of grief for merely deleting a post which breaks the rules.

I have NEVER seen porn posted in the staff forums, so I am rather disappointed that was implied by someone.

Actually, I can think of a great deal of current mods that I am truly hopeful will be mods still in the future. People like Meh, Tawny, Constance, Adiya and many many more. And these include mods who have issued me warnings and deletions at times even.
