The whole point is unity. Christians need to get out of their own little boxes of people who believe the same things as they do.
But must Truth be sacrificed for unity? Must the cross be traded in for an opportunity to sit down and be insulted by an Atheist?

Didn't Paul say stay with like-minded people?

And now we must cast out the woman who brought Christ into the world?

I've posted my thoughts on creationism (which I strongly believe in) and had many, many athiests attack me and call me names and such. Maybe not you personally, but it has happened on this site.

I'm sure it has; I'm not a regular poster in the Creation & Evolution forums, but I've certainly seen such happen. But it's not fair to take those experiences and judge all atheists as being unable to moderate fairly, any more than it would be fair for me to judge your ability by the actions of those that share opinions of yours. I think the issue isn't so much non-Christians moderating as it is... well, mean/unfair people moderating. And I hope there'll be safeguards against that, voting or no.

Actually, it's previously been ruled that using Bible verses in such a manner to attack others is indeed flaming them. I can find the link, if you like.
Please :) If so, that's a genuine concern.

the site is called Christian forums. It's for Christians to come and fellowship. That's what I want to do. I don't want to share my personal feelings about God then have an athiest tell me straight up that I'm stupid for believing in God.

Athiests blaspheme God Himself...yet day after day He gives them breath...lets them speak against Him...all along extending grace that may never be recieved!!!

Thank You Father for patiently putting up with my hatred of You!! Thank You for loving me anyway...loving me with a love that broke my heart for You!!!

Worthy is Jesus...the Lamb...He who loved me and bore my shame when I was yet His enemy!!!!

Worthy is the Lamb!!!!!!!!!

I'm excited for the changes for many reason. However, I will be respectful of the fact that this is a site for Christan's and I will still consider myself a guest. I won't intrude when someone posts seeking the opinion of other Christan's or wants to discuss specific points of theology that I don't believe in the first place. I think a change like this is a challenge for everyone to step up and act responsibly and not hide behind our icons. Anyway, thanks Erwin and thanks for everyone who has worked for the site. Remember, sometimes change is good.

Jolly good, things needed to be changed around here.

I'm not going to knock this system till I've tried it.
As someone who's moderated a site that was set up this way, at least in the regards of everyone is allowed in with no restrictions, trust me when I say that it's gonna get messy, bloody and down-right dirty. The bodies are gonna hit the floor and the mods are janitors who will not restore order, but merely clean up the blood.

!!! LISTEN !!!

This is a time of flux. A time of passion.

Please. Try not to say something you'll regret in the morning.

Please. Try not to hold something against a friend that was said in the heat of the moment.

Yes, air your griefs, your jubilations. Just think first. Count to 10, and re-read your post before hitting submit.
I think this needs to be repeated.

CF is sure heading that way, isn't it? We wouldn't want to offend anyone by quoting Scripture or upholding a Creed? Naw, let's be post-modern and use reason and throw the Bible off to the side?

Erwin has joined the new craze among Christians; he's emergent and post-modern.

My opinion: avoid fellowship with those who wish to reject the inerrancy of Scripture.
Perhaps you might like to wait and see. Otherwise you are attacking someone just for doing something you don't like.

I think this would be a good place to do it...
There is already places to do it Leanna
Erwin says in his opening post he feels the Holy Spirit guiding him to do this, wouldn't you want him too to be open to God? ..... perhaps its not about your private sanctuaries...
Or perhaps this is not of God.

(meanwhile, Christ is being called a crack-harlot and that is perfectly acceptable)

If you're referring to this:

1Now the tax collectors and "sinners" were all gathering around to hear him. 2But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, "This man welcomes sinners and eats with them." 3Then Jesus told them this parable: 4"Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Does he not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? 5And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders 6and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, 'Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.' 7I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

-------------

15While Jesus was having dinner at Levi's house, many tax collectors and "sinners" were eating with him and his disciples, for there were many who followed him. 16When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the "sinners" and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: "Why does he eat with tax collectors and 'sinners'?"

-------------

9As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector's booth. "Follow me," he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him. 10While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew's house, many tax collectors and "sinners" came and ate with him and his disciples. 11When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, "Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and 'sinners'?"
12On hearing this, Jesus said, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 13But go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice.'[a] For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."

He calls a sinner into his service, and he eats with sinners.

16"To what can I compare this generation? They are like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling out to others:
17" 'We played the flute for you,
and you did not dance;
we sang a dirge
and you did not mourn.' 18For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, 'He has a demon.' 19The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and "sinners." ' But wisdom is proved right by her actions."

-------------

28"What do you think? There was a man who had two sons. He went to the first and said, 'Son, go and work today in the vineyard.' 29" 'I will not,' he answered, but later he changed his mind and went.
30"Then the father went to the other son and said the same thing. He answered, 'I will, sir,' but he did not go.
31"Which of the two did what his father wanted?"
"The first," they answered.
Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you. 32For John came to you to show you the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes did. And even after you saw this, you did not repent and believe him.

So the church doesn't do the work of reaping the harvest, someone else will do it.

then you didn't read it close enough.

As someone who currently runs a site setup this way I posit that you are dead wrong. Sure there are nasty bits but the good outweighs the bad any day. And this site wil have rules. That much is clear. It will not be anarchy.
