I don't think Christians were supposed to be on playgrounds anyways, but the spiritual battlefield.
I thought they were suposed to be where the sinners were? Not crouched in their respective ghettos hoping no one bad wanders by and spoils their prayer meeting. :sorry: There was a guy who talked about that very thing...what was His name again? OH! I remember:
Matt. 11: 16-19 said:
16"To what can I compare this generation? They are like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling out to others:
17" 'We played the flute for you,
and you did not dance;
we sang a dirge
and you did not mourn.' 18For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, 'He has a demon.' 19The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and "sinners." ' But wisdom is proved right by her actions."

I agree....We need to realize who are our spiritual enemies.
Given what I've read in here the past few days, that would be me and people like me.

i really don't see how the changes suddenly expose young christians to spiritual harm. I think people have blown alot out of proportion around here these past few days. Get a grip !

Exactly! Anyone who wanted to harm young Christians could do so before New CF.

When we are dealing with "young people", Youth Ministry is probably one of the toughest ministry of all ministries in a local church. When it comes to teenagers, we are to know their culture and their interests in order to spread the Word so the Holy Spirit can convict their hearts to know Christ. Teaching the young what God means to obey from the "heart" rather than law (flesh). Its a toughie. I can't control them. I can't be like a Pharisee to make sure they don't break the "rules". I can't force against their will to believe what I believe. I believe in "tough love" to teenagers when needed.

Our youth ministry has several hundred participating and we would never hire staff or recruit volunteers on the basis of "if you think you are a Christian then you are."

Truth matters!

You are not the enemy I am talking about. I know you are an athiest. I can't deal with the "unknown" of those who "claims" to be a Christian. It is better to be an atheist than being a hypocrite Christian. I am reminded of this quote by D.L Moody, "Character is what you are in the dark".

Same here... and you don't think I know that. In a local church....Pastors and Elders are sinners like we are however, they have to live in higher standards than regular Christians because they are our spiritual leaders. With proper leadership in a "local Church", not Christian Forum, we make sure the right people are leading the youth ministries.

It's interesting to think that "Spiritual Pedophiles" could be so easily equated with non-Christians. Like magic, a simple declaration of yes or no is enough to separate the evil from the innocent.

If there are such people in non-Christian camps; they are found among the Christians as well. If baby Christians can be harmed by mere exposure to the likes of people like me, they are as easily harmed by demagogues within your own faiths, people who would love to have their personal malice dressed up in pious clothing. There is enough to worry about in your own camps, the notion that the mere presence of unbelievers will bring about ruin is wearing a little thin.

Awwww...come on! I've had few opportunities in my life to cause mayhem. *rustles her wings*

All kidding aside, I know that many here in CF do not think that atheists are the enemy. But I've not really been surprised by the number of Christians in these threads that do think we are. It's not that different from my experience with Christians in real life.

But the good guys keep me coming back.

Go ahead and participate in the wiki.

I won't be linking to the wiki as yet until the rules are bit more stable - it's likely the wiki would be "protected" once that stage is reached. Nevertheless, ongoing discussion can still occur.
well someone knocked all the rules out but one now..so..no need for me to intervene at this point..but i am keepin my eyes peeled on that rules wiki Erwin..lol

for those that havent found it yet..here is the rules wiki which were like a million rules earlier today..and now down to only one..lol

I didn't say it would damage them. I said it's their choice. We are taught that to pray to someone who isn't God is idol worship.

This is not remotely a control strategy... and, in fact, I think perhaps your post was. The entire forum is open. That's fine. People who wish to receive advice and prayer solely from other Christians are entitled to make that decision.

You know very little about my faith, or how fragile it is sometimes. You know nothing about the faith of all people who have just become Christian, so that line of discussion is sort of moot.

As an atheist, would you ask a Christian for scipturally-based advice? If an atheist were to go to a secular online advice site, would they want scriptures?

I'm sorry if I'm misunderstanding, but what you wrote appears to be rhetoric.

Kindly stop implying I've encouraged the rejection of good will or kindness from others. Kindness is to be aplauded. However, if someone does not wish to be prayed for by someone who isn't a Christian, that is their choice.

Again, at no point did I say it would be damaging.

Further, this is a side issue. And one that stops with "If they don't want multi-faith prayer, that's the end of it." The main issue is this is, in name, a Christian forum. If Christians need Christian advice, prayer, or support, they should be able to receive it without impunity, and without being accused of rejecting the good will of others.
But, sweetie, the damage would already have been done. Rahter than even allow for the possibility, why not have the safeguard in place?

(emphasis added)

I will refrain from responding to you further.

 And that folks is how it will work with most atheists here. Believe it or not, they have respect for us even if they do not agree with us.
