Okay, some folks are upset that there will be no safe havens, i.e., closed congregational forums. Others are upset that non-Christians may act as mods if elected. Still others are upset that by allowing anyone to call themselves Christian, it undermines the site as a "Christian" forum. There is a feeling from those who oppose the change that these rules liberalize the site. Some moderators feel very, very unaappreicated by this announcement.
Those who are for the changes are happy because they feel that there has been a bias against them for many years. They also feel that the changes will eliminate many of the moderator problems such as heavy-handed deletions when no one was reported and no one was offended. They welcome the change as an opportunity to share the gospel in a more open way. We also like the fact that we will be treated like adults instead of bad children.
Many suggestions have been made: 1) We would like to have non-Christian moderators only in GA. It does not seem wise to have atheists or other non-Christians moderating denominational forums. 2) We would like to offer that forgiveness to some of the banned. We could nominate those who have been banned and vote on a pardon, a commuted sentence, or a parole dependent upon good forum behavior. 3) We would like DR re-opened as soon as possible 4) We would a team of praise and peace keeping staff who would come in and defuse situations rather than give out warnings and infractions, 5) We would like a weighted voting power similar to reputation based on the amount of time one has spent at CF. This will eliminate the possibility of sock accounts being created solely to influence voting.
I cannot think of anything else, but opening DR immediately solely for bouncing around ideas would be very helpful.

Sure. Shepherds are used to keep the wolves from the sheep. CF has NO shepherds anymore. Anyone young in Christ will have NO protection from the wolves (either non-believers or self-proclaimed though deluded "believers") who will teach their "doctrines of devils". It's pretty well laid out in scripture for those Christians who read their Bibles. For those who don't, well, what can I say.
Since any "truth" which passes so fleetingly through the minds of those who call themselves christian on CF will now have the force of doctrine, I hope you know that you will be called to account for those you have led astray. And it will not be pretty.

indeedum. i have many non-christian friends in real life and came to this place for a chance to fellowship with other Christians, get advice that followed what the Gospel requires of it, meet people going through the same things in Christ that I am. If I were to post a question about scripture and what that particular one meant,why should non-christians be able to answer it? most don't even believe it's more than a story/history book.

And many Christians and non-Christians want to fellowship and have fun with people of all faiths.
I understand that it can be frustrating, but there are already lots of sites that encourage Christian isolationism. CF encourages fellowship and fun, and also discussion and debate, among all Christians and also people of other faiths.
Not to mention, there's also millions of wonderful real-life church that is full of Christians of all types who want to fellowship! 
The new CF is exciting. Well, as exciting as an internet forum change can get

Yep, many people don't believe the Bible to be any thing more than a history book. I however believe it to be a road map and book of directions for living in this life. If I want insight into what it says, I want input from someone who BELIEVES it!

Thank you for stopping in, Erwin.Just as I welcome non-Christians to my home and my church, I welcome them to my website. After all, that is what being Christian is all about - make disciples of all nations.
The whole issue of pastoral care at CF is still being discussed - I haven't posted about the upper management of CF as yet - they are likely to be hand-picked by me and will NOT be involved in direct moderation but will provide me with technical and administrative support (ie. forum creation, etc). Just letting people know that.
I also have non-believers in my home. Several of my best friends are non-believers. I love them dearly and pray for their salvation. But I would not allow them to teach my children or newly-believing friends about God or Jesus.

Well, people change. And Erwin's vision changed for better.Amen! God's vision NEVER changed...only Erwin's did.
What kind of shepherds on CF? As for "wolves", I don't think that many people come to CF with the intention to harm others. And people who do are called trolls, and are quickly banned.

Guess it might behoove me to look up those sites that encourage "Christian isolationism". I have no problem with posting with other Christians...but it seems that this place will be run by anybody and everybody.
I'm not looking for excitement, just something genuine.
