I'm relieved to see tonight what I hoped would happen all along. Things are settling down, and people are getting accustomed to the new order. There are still some naysayers, as I suppose there will always be, but this is where we see the wheat fall away from the chaff.

Erwin, thanks again for your confidence. Stand firm, Brother. We're all anticipating the final version. But may I ask kindly that you consider some suggestions that have been made, strictly for security's sake.

Bread. Funnily enough, I've never quite seen myself that way. I wonder if I'm good with ketchup?

But you don't have to worry about bears. A friend of mine in Yellowstone gave me some very useful advice -- when in bear country, always wear little bells on your shoes.

The jingling of the little bells warned the bears that you were approaching.

He also said that you could look at the piles of bear droppings to tell what kind of bear was in the area.

If there were insect shells and nuts in the droppings, you didn't need to worry much, because only brown bears were nearby.

If small twigs and berry seeds were in the droppings, then only black bears were around.

Grizzly bears have very distinctive droppings -- they have little bells in them. ;)

The thread is so depressing, but I guess can't argue some people's right to be upset.
I don't see it as depressing. I see it as a very necessary tool to help people adjust to the change, vent a little steam, stamp their feet a bit and, in many cases, say some of the things they've never been allowed to say before. I think this series of threads is as necessary to the reforming of Christian Forums as is Erwin's plan. If you don't let people work through their frustrations they just build and fester. Letting everyone talk this out is, in my opinion, healthier for everyone. Perhaps if some of those who have already left had participated more openly, they would have recognized that their departure was in haste and somewhat self-defeating.

This is a message board, but many come here that are seeking or young in Christ and do not need the agendas of others polluting their precious hearts and minds.
Agendas of polluting minds?

How about giving people all the various viewpoints, and let them make up their own minds, based on the input from all?

Oh, I get it. You want them to have access to no viewpoints but one, and make life decisions based on just the one, and be completely isolated and insulated from all other viewpoints. Sorry I didn't see it before. It makes perfect sense now.

Sometimes I just soooo wish I could rep you.

I think that's exactly what is being said.

I would suppose there would have to be some special consideration for forums like Creation/Evolution fo instance. When it came to "election " you would be likely to see some sneeky politics coming into play with "loaded " meetings and such. What might have to happen is that elections were held from each "camp" to get an even balanc and so make the forum somewhat workable.

Was that to me? Have we reduced the discussion to sophomoric banter on user names? wow

"He makes sense, and I have no arguments against his points.

hmmmm....

I know! I'll start banter on his user name."
:D

:D

My banter is rarely sophomoric.

What causes you to believe that I would like to argue against whatever points you may have made?

Back up a page or two.

I offer this simple prayer from Luke 11 in the Christian Bible as my 1000th post

Our Father, who art in Heaven
Hallowed by thy name
Thy kingdom come
Thy will be done
On earth as it is in Heaven
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespassses
As we forgive those who trespass against us
And lead us not into temptation
For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory
For ever and ever

Amen

Actually it is not a prayer and it is not simple. It is a suggested manner of prayer and if you analyse it it is very complex

Aye. But which is which?
That, my friend, is not mine to judge, thank God!

I suppose what I meant with that particular line was we'll see who are friendly to the site, and who are antagonistic. The ones with the commitment to community and healthy discussion will stay and keep the site populated, the ones who are only here for selfish purposes, or to stir up dissent in whatever form will be the ones who fall away.

I don't know that I agree with that.

I mean, I like the new proposed policies, but I also think that there are a lot of good-hearted, well-intentioned people who have left, or who will leave, because their consciences simply won't allow them to stay.

I urge, and in the strongest possible terms, that an Us v. Them or Faithful v. Traitor mentality be discouraged.

I personally don't know how anyone can keep up with this thread.

It's like IRC with no channels but only two messages:

The end of the world is nigh!
and
All your base are ours!

thanks for demonstrating for us the true meaning of all inclusive exclusivism in the name of Christian love:thumbsup:

now... correct me if i'm wrong but wasn't there a verse somewhere about how God alone can see a man's heart? nah... its probably easier to just judge people and assume its all about selfishness and causing problems without asking questions to get to the heart of the matter :D

I can tell you this, some members will coming back with this new CF.

And to hell with them. It's not like those types are a majoriy, nor do they contribute anything to this community besides malice and discord.

Those are exactly the types this site can do without, and needs to do without if Erwin ever wishes to unite anything more than the modern day pharases.
