Why would anyone even want to be a mod? I never understood that?
Power and control -- often at the expense of being a good person and doing what they know to be right.

Having said that, I know of at least one who remained a mod because they felt that they could add a voice of reason to otherwise unreasonable decisions. It didn't work, of course, and often left them feeling like a traitor to their own principles and ethics. But there will always be those hungry for power and control over others and those who yearn to have others smother them with insincere respect. I'm hoping that their new training (assuming they'll get new training), will include the fact that "moderating" is about "moderation", not about extremes.

EDIT: This, of course, is based on a number of the select ones I've had contact with in a small section of the forum.

I think that, at some point, everyone wants to be a Mod... until they actually try it!

There're lots of reasons for wanting to be a Mod. Some of the reasons are good and productive, some are petty and self-serving.

Depends on the person.

Has anyone else noticed Erwin slipping in and out of the thread? How many would bet along with me that he's seeing exactly what he expected to see in here? People need some time to adjust, to vent their frustrations and even to voice their anger. It's really not such a bad thing. It's probably healing for a very wounded membership. These threads, in my opinion, are quite necessary as a psychological release-valve before getting on with the business of re-forming the site.

Um, no. That's not why I became a mod, and I don't know many who did become one for that reason.

Chances are I was never in your section of the forum. I should have clarified that I was speaking mostly of a select number I've had contact with.

But then I see you've already caught my drift. ;)

Not all maybe but the ones who do become somewhat obvious after a period of time. Thats why I'm glad the new ones are voted in by those who are accustomed to their fairness (through familiarity, hopefully) and are given a limit. Its also kool that they can be revoted by the group so maybe that will keep them honest;)

Works for them and us actually dont cha think?

Peace

Again to my point, what did all those seekers do before internet message boards? Where did they go? Who did they talk to? What did they read? How did they find and stay on the straight and narrow?
They went to loved ones, they went to strangers, or strangers came to them, they went to church, whether it be outside or indoors, they read the Bible or other historical information. They listened to Christian music.
Cheers for the blessed ones that were led to the good news of Jesus Christ, that they may be saved.
Jesus Christ will keep you firm to the end.

There is a lot of bunk on the net, for sure. That's one more reason people shouldn't be giving internet message boards the same treatment and status as churches.
Never called this place a church and never thought of it as one. In fact there is a thread in ethics that was started about a week ago that asked the same question. "Is CF a church?"
My answer "NO"

It's a MESSAGE BOARD, not the Holy Grail. Good grief!
yes it is a message board. A so called "Christian Forum"
I think that title is now misleading and so is the slogan.

^_^ That was good

Now I lay thee on my plate,

God bless this food before I eat:p

A minister liked to go walking in the woods. One day, he was accosted by three large grizzly bears.

He ran, but couldn't escape the vicious bears.

Finally, in desperation, he fell to his knees and begged God to make the bears Christian, so they wouldn't eat him.

When he eventually got the nerve to look up at the bears, he saw that all three had their heads bowed reverently.

"Thank You, Lord!" the minister cried.

"Shhhh," said the biggest bear, "we're saying grace."

To some, Christians and non-Christians alike, it's more a Christian Forum now, (or soon will be), that it has been in the past.

Are you sure you weren't just fond of the isolation and elitism of the old CF?
